Story of Mass Production (1947) is promotional giveaway distributed by the Ford Motor Company. "The Story of Mass Production" follows a car down an assembly line from start to finish. Two youngsters tour the Ford Rouge Plant in Detroit, Michigan to see how mass production is done. From the molten metal samples to get the correct iron needed to pouring the actual mold for the V-8 block, and on to the piston/rod/crankshaft assembly, and then the frames, with 1,450 cars turned out per day. Rouge Plant had 132 miles of conveyors, 14 million square feet of floor space, 105 miles of railway track, and 18 locomotives moving stuff around back then. 70,000 employees.
