"Guard Dogs" Written by David G. Lamplugh and Chris Nicholas. Art by David G. Lamplugh. During the 1968 Democratic National Convention held in Chicago, thousands gathered to protest the war in Viet Nam, the nomination of Hubert Humphrey and the policies of the Johnson administration. Chicago's police reacted violently to suppress the demonstrations, arresting 668 people. Over 1000 were treated for injuries at the scene. Mayor Richard M. Daley said in the city's defense, "the policeman is not there to create disorder, the policeman is there to preserve order." Lem Bivage was just happy he could finally get off the wagon. 7" x 8.5", 24 pages, B&W.
