First printing, 1925. Written by Hugo Gernsback, who is often referred to as one of the fathers of science fiction. The other two are Jules Verne and H.G. Wells, who are famous for their novels. Gernsback, on the other hand, created a marketable genre. He created Amazing Stories in 1926 and is credited with inventing the term science fiction (though he preferred scientifiction). This, Gernsback's first science fiction novel, is a touchstone of the genre. Even though the book is not well-written, the concepts are spectacular in their vision and include solar panels, radar and television. Cover and 11 interior illustrations by Frank R. Paul, a Gernsback favorite who would do so many iconic covers for Amazing Stories. Simply put, this is a milestone of the genre and needless to say, extremely scarce. Hardcover with dustjacket. 294 pages.
