Reprint, second printing on cover. Fall 1957, first issue. Key article is by Werner von Braun's "Where are We Going?" a three-page article with a photograph of von Braun. Other articles include "Why Conquer Space," "The Father of Astronautics," "Outlook to Space Travel" and much more. The outlook for space in the late 1950s was passionate and excited and that's very well communicated here. Ads are interesting, too: there's serious engineering ones from Sperry Rand, Reaction Motors, Martin (before the merger with Lockheed), Thiokol Chemical Corp. (with an ad about Rocket Mail "coming sooner than you think") and Rocketdyne, a division of North American Aviation ("builders of power for outer space"). Scarce. 8 8 1/2-in. x 11-in., 48 pages, B&W. Cover price $0.50.
