Volume 1 - 1st printing. "August 1952 to April 1953!" Collects Adventures into Darkness (1952-1954) #5-9. The covers alone are worth the price of admission - Alex Toth, Jerry Grandenetti, plus, for fans of DC's My Greatest Adventure, Ruben Moreira - comics just don't come no better than this, folks. Standard Comics did not believe in #1 issues. They were convinced that comics sold better if they appeared to have been around for a while, and therefore they started all their horror titles with #5, each lasting about ten issues of fairly well-done E.C. imitations. Hardcover, 184 pages, full color. Cover price $44.99.

Volume 1 - 1st printing. "November 1952 to April 1953!" Collects Atomic War! (1952) #1-4.
Hey, gang! This one'll go with a BANG... what with the impending end of Planet Earth in the news. Yessir! But this four-issue volume of Ace's Atomic War! comic doesn't focus on the gentle global warming path to oblivion we're all of us currently taking, but rather the big "Hoo Boy, here comes the End of Everything!" approach we all of us figured would be the way humankind would hand in its chips, namely with mushroom clouds aplenty, bombs the size of city blocks, and floods to make Noah's problem look like he left a faucet running in the bathroom.
You betcha by golly, this here's a gem of a book, comprising all four issues of Atomic War! (November 1952 to April 1953), plus the one-shot Captain Courageous from 1942 - all of 'em featuring stories and words from the likes of Ken Rice, Lou Cameron, Bill Molno, Jim McLaughlin, Chic Stone, Sol Brodsky, Harry Sahle, George Wilson and Lou Paige. Way to go, you warriors!
Better stock up on those cans of soup!
Hardcover, 216 pages, full color.

Volume 1 - 1st printing. "June/July 1951 to April/May 1951!" Collects Dark Mysteries (1951-1955) #1-6.
How can you go wrong when the first comic of a 24-book series kicks off with an eight-pager from Wallace Wood ("The Curse of the Sea Witch")? True, the work in these books won't win a Pulitzer but, that's more a reflection on the judges than the material. And that's only for starters. Elsewhere there are tales from Joe Orlando, Walter Johnson, Ed Goldfarb, A.C. Hollingsworth, Bill Fraccio, Lou Cameron, John D'Agostino, Tony Tallarico, Harry Harrison and Hy Fleishman and a whole host of other wacked-out-of-their-gourd luminaries.
Hardcover, 216 pages, full color. Cover price $49.99. -

You could be forgiven for thinking, hey, they must have run out, right? They must have exhausted all the good stuff by now with the ACG titles pretty near-on gone, along with Planet, Jet Power, all the Harvey titles, Tom Corbett, The Heap, Rulah, Strange Suspense, and who knows what else. Yeah, you'da thunk it, but check this out! A second collection featuring issues 7 through 12 of Dark Mysteries boasting yarns from Joe Orlando, Walter Johnson, Ed Goldfarb, A.C. Hollingsworth, Bill Fraccio, Lou Cameron, John D'Agostino, Tony Tallarico, Harry Harrison, and Hy Fleishman and a whole host of other wacked-out-of-their-gourd luminaries!

Volume 1 - 1st printing. "1951 to 1953!" Collects Ghost Comics (1951-1954 Fiction House) #1-7. This often unfairly forgotten 11-strong series (of which this volume captures the first seven issues) surely boasted some of the most magnificent covers of any of the EC wannabes of some sixty-plus years ago, despite the artists concerned being a considerable way from being "household names." One of these forgotten masters is Maurice Whitman; just check out the cover for #6! Plus you get EC's very own Jack Kamen regularly popping up inside. This was material that suggested unpleasantness rather than just stepped forward and pulled the old schlock-it-up lever. Hardcover, 256 pages, full color. Cover price $59.99.

Volume 1 - 1st printing. "August 1950-1951!" Collects Ghost Rider (1950-1954 Magazine Enterprises) #1-5. Cover by Dick Ayers. Created by Dick Ayers and Ray Krank, Rex Fury was originally known as the Calico Kid, who together with his white horse Spectre became the Ghost Rider! Wearing a white outfit covered with phosphorus and using a cape that had phosphorescent on one side and black on the other, he could cover parts of his body to give the illusion that he was merely a floating head or pair of hands. To further the illusion, he wielded a black lariat and black bullwhip-even Spectre glowed in the dark! The Ghost Rider battled many foes, who like him, were not truly supernatural at all, such as an imposter of Frankenstein's Monster and the Harpy, werewolves and vampires! Hardcover, 184 pages, full color. Cover price $52.99.
