1st printing. Based on the Stories by Franz Kafka. Adapted by Nishioka Kyodai. Translated by David Yang. Two cult-favorite Japanese artists present eerie graphic adaptations of 9 classic Franz Kafka short stories, with hypnotic illustrations that will appeal to fans of Junji Ito. With spectacularly detailed, otherworldly illustrations, the brother-and-sister duo known as Nishioka Kyodai create a haunting, claustrophobic visual world for Kafka's surreal masterpieces including "The Metamorphosis," "In the Penal Colony," and "The Vulture." These adaptations present absorbing moments for their unique art style to offer vivid entry points into Kafka's world and which take the immersion experience to a whole other level. Softcover, 5-in. x 7-in., 176 pages, full color. Cover price $19.95.

Story and art by Peter Kuper.
Long fascinated with the work of Franz Kafka, Peter Kuper began illustrating his stories in 1988. Initially drawn to the master's dark humor, Kuper adapted the stories over the years to plumb their deeper truths. Kuper's style deliberately evokes Lynd Ward and Frans Masereel, contemporaries of Kafka whose wordless novels captured much of the same claustrophobia and mania as Kafka's tales. Longtime lovers of Kafka will appreciate Kuper's innovative interpretations, including "A Hunger Artist," "In The Penal Colony," and "The Burrow." Kafkaesque stands somewhere between adaptation and wholly original creation, going beyond a simple illustration of Kafka's words to become a stunning work of art.

1st printing. Written by Otto Binder, Al Feldstein, Gardner Fox, Jack Oleck, and Carl Wessler. Art by Jack Kamen, Will Elder, John Alton, Frank Bolle, Leonard Starr, Bill Fraccio, and Rudy Palais. Cover by Jack Kamen. Introduction by Thommy Burns. Twenty-seven horror stories by master comics artist Jack Kamen - including all 13 of his classic "Grim Fairy Tales." Jack Kamen's stories for The Vault of Horror, Tales From the Crypt, and The Haunt of Fear favored unnerving creepiness over gruesome shock. With his penchant for deft delineations of scheming women, jealous husbands, murderous love triangles, and not-so-innocent children, Kamen's pen laid down a precise, sure line that brought each story's shock ending into sharp relief. This volume features 27 Kamen favorites, drawn at the peak of his powers, including: "Kamen's Kalamity," featuring the "true" origin story of the artist himself! "How Green Was My Alley," the cautionary tale of a traveling salesman who spends every other week at home with his wife. And every other other week at his other home with his other wife! Then, Kamen switches from horror to horror-humor for all 13 of his classic "Grim Fairy Tales," revealing the gruesome underpinnings of the Grim classics. You'll never look at Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Hansel and Gretel, or Little Red RidingHood and their friends quite the same way again!Plus: seven bonus crime and horror stories by EC short-termers John Alton, Frank Bolle, Leonard Starr, Bill Fraccio, Rudy Palais, and Ed Smalle. I Like every book in the Fantagraphics EC Artists' Library, Kamen's Kalamity And Other Stories also features essays and notes by EC experts on these superbly crafted, classic masterpieces. Hardcover, 248 pages, B&W. Cover price $35.00.

1st printing. Story and art by Kan Takahama. Kan Takahama's scripts are very clever, very subtle - even when her words are very direct. These are complemented by a range of art that twists and turns with the dialogue, adding an extra dimension to the stories. She tackles subjects as diverse as suicide pacts, mermaids, and barroom chat with a robust-yet-delicate grace. Born in Amakusa, Japan in 1977, Kan's debut in comic art came when her story, "The Women Who Stay," won first prize in a competition and was published by the famous alternative magazine, Garo, in 2001. Further stories and collections followed, later collaborating with Frederic Boilet's "Nouvelle Manga" series to publish their first graphic novel, Mariko Parade this January in Japan. A collection of 10 storiess. Softcover, 6-in. x 8-in., 204 pages, B&W. MATURE READERS NOTE: These are Japanese manga-style GNs and are meant to be read right-to-left.

Story and art by John Porcellino.
King-Cat Classix collects material from the first fifty issues of John Porcellino's King-Cat Comics as they appeared in self-published, handmade zines throughout the 1990s, now in paperback.
These strips span Porcellino's dynamic evolution from saturated, punk drawings to his characteristic refined minimalism, revealing his work as nothing short of a catalyst that has inspired artists like Chris Ware in the emerging literary comics scene. In the inky drawings featuring beloved pets, awkward teenage one-night-stands, and everyday blunders, we see a nascent style steeped in truth and transparency-one that continues to ring true today.

2nd Edition - 1st printing.
Story and art by Shigeru Mizuki. Introduction by Zack Davisson.
Kitaro seems just like any other boy. Of course, he isn't-what with his one eye and jet-powered geta sandals, and the fact that he can shape-shift like a chameleon. It's all a part of being a 350-year-old yokai, a Japanese spirit monster.
Against a backdrop of photorealistic landscapes, Kitaro and his otherworldly cartoon friends plunge into the depths of the Pacific Ocean and forge the oft-unseen wilds of Japan's countryside.
The twelve stories in this special collection include more works published in the golden age of GeGeGe no Kitaro between 1967 and 1969.
