Sudden Surprises, script by James Hudnall, pencils by Scott Benefiel, inks by Mike Christian; Hardcase introduces Choice to his secretary, agent and lawyer, hoping they will be able to help Choice by figuring out her past; Soon after that meeting, Hardcase and Choice go to another meeting with the Alternate, who informs them about the source of all ultra's powers and how the source is on the moon; Meanwhile, NM-E continues to stabilize himself and make himself stronger by assimilating any material that comes in handy, preferring organic material; The Alternate also reveals to Hardcase that the person behind the attack that killed the Squad, and the creator of NM-E, is Rex Mundi; The Alternate coerces Hardcase to go to the moon to get the source of power. Loose Ends, script by James Hudnall, pencils by Scott Benefiel, inks by Mike Christian; After the events of Break-Thru, Hardcase, Choice and the Solution steal the space ship from Quattro and the Omega Team and leave them stranded; Gate is able to use his abilities and lands Quattro and the Omega Team in the middle of the Sahara Desert; Meanwhile, Rex Mundi is able to explode the space ship holding the Solution, Hardcase and Choice before it enters the Earth's orbit; Thankfully, the suits provided by the Alternate protect the heroes and they are able to fly back to Earth under the suit's power; Hardcase and Choice arrive at Hardcase's house to find a suitcase of money that the Alternate promised for the mission; She also leaves a letter stating that clues for Choices past could be found in the Aladdin facility in Groom Lake, the same place they entered before with the Strangers. The Angry Past: Part Two, script by James Hudnall, pencils by Scott Benefiel, inks by Jasen Rodriguez; Hardcase and Choice are in Hardcase's car, headed towards the secret base of Aladdin, when they are met with Aladdin agents Foxfire, Dirt Devil and War Eagle; Head Knocker and Hardwire accompany the crew, being made temporary Aladdin agents; Hardcase immediately turns around and the Aladdin agents are bewildered that their mere presence caused the hero to surrender; However, the real reason was because Hardcase did not want another of his cars destroyed in an ultra fight; Foxfire, Dirt Devil and War Eagle chase after them and a large battle ensues; Head Knocker and Hardwire return back to the base to bide their time and strike against Hardcase and Choice at a better time; Choice and Hardcase finally defeat Foxfire, Dirt Devil and War Eagle and feel tired when they are finally met with Hardwire and Head Knocker. 36 pgs., full color. $1.95. Hudnall, pencils by Scott Benefiel, inks by Jasen Rodriguez; Hardcase and Choice battle the combined might of Hardwire and Head Knocker; The battle lasts for a while before Hardcase and Choice escape; They catch Foxfire, War Eagle and Dirt Devil in the desert and tell them that they want to conclude a truce: Hardcase won't attempt to enter Aladdin's base if Aladdin does not retaliate in any manner. Aladdin agrees and they leave the scene; Unfortunately, Aladdin also loses Hardwire and Head Knocker, letting loose two convicted killers; After some time, Hardcase and Choice find themselves in Las Vegas where they contact Tech of the Solution; Hardcase asks Tech to search the database of Aladdin's computers to find the secrets behind Choice's memory. 36 pgs., full color. $1.95. Hudnall, pencils by Tim Hamilton, inks by Keith Aiken; Prime arrives to save Hardcase from a killing blow. While Prime battles NM-E on his own, Hardcase's body lays on the beach; The Alternate arrives to heal Hardcase and informs him about some special properties of his ultra ability, including the facts that sea water can heal him and he doesn't need air; Meanwhile, Prime finds NM-E to be stronger than he anticipated; Prime's protoplasmic shell eventually dissipates and it seems that NM-E is about to kill the teenager that is really Prime when Hardcase arrives to save him; While not complete healed, Hardcase is in fighting shape and vows to not stop until NM-E is destroyed; Meanwhile, Hardwire is saved by a mysyerious person in Hardcase's burning house; Rex Mundi also figures out that the Alternate directly intervened to save Hardcase's life and ponders on it. 36 pgs., full color. $1.95. Hudnall, pencils by Tim Hamilton, inks by Keith Aiken and Rich Rankin; Hardcase is burnt beyond recognition but continues to fight NM-E; Hardcase lured NM-E to a gas station where he puts the mechanical creature into a fiery explosion and then immediately places him in the cold water, the extreme temperatures hurting NM-E drastically; Hardcase continues to fight him and grabs one of his blades to finally destroy him again; Prime arrives, recovered, to help Hardcase again but NM-E is already defeated. Hardcase and Prime discuss that NM-E's parts should be sent to Contrary for observation when suddenly Hardcase is teleported away; He believes that Choice is teleporting him, much like she was teleported before; The Alternate and Rex Mundi are both confused about Hardcase's disappearance and the Alternate tries to figure a way to steal NM-E's mechanical parts away from Prime. 36 pgs., full color. $1.95. He goes to investigate but it's actually the Time Gem; He places it on his head and immediately knows how to use it. He goes in the past to the last battle of the Squad, his former teammates, and tries to change fate; He travels back and follows where NM-E came from, so he could track Rex Mundi. Shadowmage informs him where Death Dance and Meathook are; Hardcase goes to visit them and they attack him, thinking they're in a fight; After Hardcase resolves the confusion, Death Dance and Meathook informs him where they could find Rex; Meanwhile, the new Choice that Hardcase inadvertently 'created' by altering the time stream arrives at Hardcase's office to find him. Rex Mundi captures him and explains to him his origin; Rex Mundi is the world's first true ultra and he created the Alternate out of his own body, making an equal; The Alternate didn't agree with Rex Mundi's agenda of controlling the world and destroying all ultras because they were a risk to his agenda; The Alternate, Regina, opposed Rex Mundi since then. Rex Mundi created NM-E to be his ultra destroyer; While Rex reveals this information, Hardcase realizes that he's much more powerful than he thought; He uses this newfound power to time travel and stop his past self from saving the Squad; When that occurs, the original Choice kills the newest Choice.
