Untitled Rawhide Kid story, art by Bob Brown and Joe Maneely; first appearance of the Rawhide Kid; Hearing gunshots, the Rawhide Kid rides his horse to a ranch where the rancher is being bushwacked by rustlers; Despite his interference the Rawhide Kid fails to prevent the owner of the ranch from being shot dead. "The Menace of White Face!", art by Bob Brown; While riding across a rope bridge, Randy falls off his horse and almost goes over the edge, but the Rawhide Kid quickly rescues the boy with his lasso. "Wrong Man" text story. "The Death of Wyatt Earp!", art by Bob Forgione; Sheriff Wyatt Earp had cleaned out the town of Abilene, however while on a two week vacation outlaw Moose Morrill and his gang sought to take it over by first eliminating him. "The Sioux Attack!", art by Bob Brown; The Rawhide Kid and Randy come across a man who has been killed by Sioux Native American warriors, Rawhide tells his young ward to stand back since the Sioux must have left the dead man out as a trap, and sure enough his hunch proves right when they are attacked by a band of Sioux warriors. 36 pgs., full color. "Hangman's Justice!", art by Bob Brown; The Rawhide Kid and Randy Clayton are riding along the range when they witness a man being kidnapped; The Kid and Clayton are shot at when they rush to the man's rescue and although they kill one of the kidnappers the other escape with their victim. "Six-Gun Scholar!", art by Bob Brown; While riding across the range, the Rawhide Kid is shocked when a pair of men rope up Randy off his horse with a lasso; The Kid shoots the rope free and learn that they are truant officers who then try to use strong arm tactics to find out why Randy isn't in school. "Trouble on the Trail" text story. "The Last Victim of Husk Grant!", art by Harry Anderson. "Ambush Gang!", art by Bob Brown; On his way home from school, Randy is ambushed by a group of men who then take him prisoner for their boss; When the Rawhide Kid learns that Randy went missing after class, the Kid searches for the boy, learning he was bushwhacked but cannot find the trail; At the local saloon shortly thereafter, the Rawhide Kid is approached by one of the gang with a note written by Randy. 36 pgs., full color. "The Rustlers!", art by Bob Brown; The Rawhide Kid and Randy Clayton are fording across a river when suddenly Randy and his horse Smokey are swept up in the currents and dragged down stream; The Kid tries to rescue Randy, but the rapids are too strong and Randy disappears. "The Search" text story. "The Easy Way!" Untitled story, art by Bob Brown; The Rawhide Kid and Randy Clayton are riding along Slide Mountain in a region the Native Americans have called the Valley of 1000 Shadows where they just narrowly avoid a rock slide; The slider reveals a large vein of green gold including a Native American hammer also bound in the gold; They take it into nearby town of Del Oro to be appraised; There the Rawhide Kid tells Randy to keep the location of the find a secret. 36 pgs., full color. "The Broken Spur!", art by Bob Brown and Joe Maneely (splash page); When Juddy Hayes, a classmate of Randy Clayton, is determined to free his father from jail after he has been accused of murdering Mr. Grayson at the bank, Randy goes to warn his mentor the Rawhide Kid; The Rawhide Kid rushes into town and stops Juddy before he can set off explosives that would free his father from jail; He then rushes Juddy out of town where the boy tells the Rawhide Kid and Randy what happened the day his father was arrested: That his father went into the bank to see Mr. Grayson alone, Juddy heard two gunshots and went in. "Flaming Gem!", art by Bob Brown; Randy Clayton is playing marbles with his friend using a corker that a pair of outlaws named Slade and Kincaid recognize as fire opals; They approach Randy and as him about his corker and he tells them that he found it down by the river with a number of other similar rocks; Unaware of the value of his corker, Randy lets the men take a closer look at it; When they offer to buy it off Randy, he refuses and the men take it anyway tossing pennies at Randy and his friend; When Randy tries to fight to get his corker back, the Rawhide Kid arrives. "Brand for Trouble" text story. "The Kid's Last Ride!", art by Chuck Miller. Untitled story, art by Bob Brown and Joe Maneely (splash page); While camping out for the night the Rawhide Kid wakes up to find a cougar attempting to attack their horses; Although the Rawhide Kid manages to shoot the cougar dead, Randy's horse Smokey is too frightened to be useful anymore and the Kid has to tell his ward that Smokey needs to be put out to pasture; After dropping Smokey off at a rancher friend, the Rawhide Kid takes Randy into the town of Jackspir to find a new horse. 36 pgs., full color. "King Cobra!", art by Bob Brown; While out riding, the Rawhide Kid and Randy Clayton come across a strange snake that they have never seen before; Spooking Randy's horse causing the boy to be thrown from his steed, the snake is about to strike but is shot dead by the Rawhide Kid; The Kid and Randy take the snake back to Greg Tate, a retired professor who tells them that the snake is a Hooded King Cobra the most deadliest reptile in the world. "Desperate Hour!", art by Bob Brown; While out for a ride the Rawhide Kid and his ward Randy Clayton hear the pained cries of a mountain lion echoing through the range, the pair then split up to try and find the source of the noise; Randy finds the big cat first and notices that it is caught in a bear trap. 36 pgs., full color. "Quicksand!", pencils by Dick Ayers, inks by Ernie Bache; The Rawhide Kid and his young ward Randy Clayton are out on a ride when they spot a coyote chasing a rabbit near a patch of quicksand; They watch as the rabbit tricks the coyote into following him into the quicksand, the coyote gets stuck but the rabbit manages to flee; After saving the coyote from the quicksand, the Kid and Randy decide to investigate how the rabbit managed to survive. "Showdown" text story. "Six Gun Lesson!", pencils by Dick Ayers, inks by Ernie Bache; The Rawhide Kid happens past the ranch owned by a man named Barlow and witnesses him whipping one of his horses; Disliking how the horse is being treated the Kid pulls his gun and shoots the whip and then roughs up Barlow and his men; When he notices that all the horses have the Circle Q brand on them, Barlow tells the Kid that he bought the horses fair. "Sting of the Hornet!", pencils by Dick Ayers, inks by Ernie Bache; The Rawhide Kid is out for a ride where he comes across a dead body; Suspecting who the dead man might be, the Kid cannot know for sure because the man's guns are missing; After burying the dead man the Rawhide Kid returns to town and finds it under alert due to a sighting of an outlaw gunslinger named the Hornet. "Untamed!" "Trail to Ruin!", pencils by Dick Ayers, inks by Ernie Bache; The Rawhide Kid comes upon a freshly robbed stage coach and frees the tied up riders learning that they were robbed by a bunch of young kids. 36 pgs., full color. "The Lost Mine!", art by Dick Ayers; The Rawhide Kid is spying on the Fargo gang through a skylight in an abandoned building but can't make out what they are saying; Getting closer to the skylight causes a piece of broken glass to fall down, alerting them to his presence; The Kid smashes through the skylight; While he manages to shoot the guns out of the outlaws hands, they manage to knock him out and leave the Rawhide Kid tied up. "Showdown!", art by Dick Ayers; The Rawhide Kid and Randy Clayton are out riding on the range they come across a man tied to his horse; Going to his aid, they find that he is still alive and revive him; They learned that he was roughed up by a local gambler named Haskins. "Trapped!", art by Dick Ayers; The Rawhide Kid and Randy Clayton are out riding when they spot the drive team of a wagon running loose, they chase after the horses and get them to stop; They then follow their trail back to the wagon they came from and treat the driver and pull his wagon up right; They learn take him to Fort Slater, where he tells the captain that his escort at Blacksnake Mesa attacked him and robbed him of his supply of weapons. "Teacher's Trail" text story. "The Coward!", script by Stan Lee, pencils by Al Williamson, inks by Gray Morrow. "Gold Strike!", art by Dick Ayers; While riding into town the Rawhide Kid is told by some of Randy's friends that his ward is sick at the doctors; The Kid goes to the doctor and learns that young mister Clayton is sick from eating too much candy; When asking Randy how he got so much candy, Randy reveals that he struck gold and used some of it to buy the candy; Just as Randy is telling the Kid that he found the gold at Snake Creek, the Kid realizes that someone is spying at the window. 36 pgs., full color. "Powder Keg!", pencils by Dick Ayers, inks by Ernie Bache; The Rawhide Kid comes across his ward Randy Clayton and his friend playing with sticks of dynamite; Just as Randy throws one the Kid catches it and then gathers up all the sticks scattered around and douses them in a nearby river; Suspecting that a passing stage might have dropped them, the Rawhide Kid takes the boys into town to talk to the sheriff about it. "Escape" text story. "The Raiders!", pencils by Dick Ayers, inks by Ernie Bache; The Rawhide Kid rides into town to find that Sheriff Pack Tilford has been replaced by a man named Wildcat Garney who has put out an ordinance demanding that all citizens of Shotgun City turn in their guns; Believing in his Constitutional right to bear arms, the Rawhide Kid refuses to turn over his guns; He clashes with Wildcat and his men. "The Little Avenger!", art by Dick Ayers; The Rawhide Kid just narrowly fails to stop a gang of outlaws who have just robbed a stagecoach carrying ten thousand dollars in gold bars; Soon after, while the Kid's ward Randy Clayton is out for a ride he comes across the outlaws burying their stolen loot in the ground. "Outlaw's Ambush!", pencils by Dick Ayers, inks by Ernie Bache; In the streets of Mesquite the Rawhide Kid spots a man about to be bushwhacked and shoots the guns out of his attacker's hands; It turns out they attacked the man--named Carter--due to the fact that he was once arrested for robbing a stagecoach, he spent 3 years in Yuma pen despite insisting that he was innocent of the crimes; Carter decides to leave, but the Rawhide Kid doesn't believe he should leave if he was innocent of the crime. "Duty Trail" text story. "Pecos Justice!", art by Dick Ayers; The Rawhide Kid is present during the trial of Trigger Flaig; Expecting a guilty verdict he and the rest of the court room is shocked when Judge Jim Blake finds him innocent; When the locals try to react violently against Blake, the Kid stops them reminding them that they have to respect the decisions of the law. Untitled story, pencils by Dick Ayers, inks by Ernie Bache; The Rawhide Kid and Randy spot buzzards flying in the sky and race to their location to find a stagecoach that was apparently attacked by Comanches; Finding the crew of the stagecoach they also believe it is the work of Comanches. "Winner Take All!", pencils by Dick Ayers, inks by Ernie Bache; The Rawhide Kid pays a visit to the gambling den of Faro Price and orders him to takes his crooked games and leave town after he cheated a local rancher out of his ranch and live stalk; The Kid plays a high stakes game risking Randy Clayton's education on who can draw the higher card. 36 pgs., full color. "The Man in the Black Stetson!", pencils by Dick Ayers; The Rawhide Kid comes across a man named Anson wearing a unique black Stetson on the trail about to be bushwhacked by a pair of gunmen and stops them; The two men then claim that they mistook the rider for someone else; The man notes that this is the second time he was attacked by someone and joins the Rawhide Kid in bringing the shooters to the jail in Shotgun City. "Deep Gulch Mystery" text story. "Ghost of Bull Run!", pencils by Dick Ayers; The sheriff rushes to the home owned by the Rawhide Kid and tells the Kid and his ward Randy Clayton that someone has broken the the Kelsey gang; They return to Shotgun City too late to stop the outlaws from escaping but the Kid much to the annoyance of the locals; However, the Rawhide Kid finds tracks that they can trail but soon the trail runs cold forcing them to return town to learn that a gambling syndicate has set up in town while they were gone. "Blind Justice!", pencils by Dick Ayers; In a lawless town the Rawhide Kid is confronted by a man seeking to get out of town and is willing to shoot the Kid and steal his horse to get it; The Kid offers up his horse, but when the gunslinger tires to leave, Apache bucks him off. When the Kid subdues the would-be horse thief and asks where the law is and is laughed at. "Man On the Run!", script by Stan Lee. "Showdown in Shadow Gap!", art by Dick Ayers; The Rawhide Kid is returning to Shotgun City and finds two men blocking his path in Shadow Gap; When they refuse to let him pass, the Kid lets his guns do the talking and sends them packing, but they vow to get back at him; Not liking the looks of the two characters he just encountered, the Rawhide Kid decides to follow them and see what they are up to. 36 pgs., full color. "Mysterious Stranger" text story, art by Joe Maneely. "Wanted: Dead or Alive!", art by Dick Ayers; The Rawhide Kid and Randy Clayton witness a man tied to his horse galloping into town; Checking him they find the man clinging to life and bring him to Dr. Garret for treatment; Sending Randy to get the sheriff, the Rawhide Kid checks the man's belonging and learns that he is a US Marshal from Shawnee county who had a warrant out for the Shand gang with a message "dead men can't serve warrants!" written on it by Clem Shand the leader of the gang. Untitled story, art by Dick Ayers; A gang of outlaws smash the tax office of Shotgun City, escaping with the paperwork the tax collector had been compiling on back taxes and escape; When the Rawhide Kid comes to see what the commotion was about, he learns about the various tax dodgers that are holed up Bushwhacker County. "Showdown!", script by Stan Lee, art by Syd Shores. "Retribution!", pencils by Dick Ayers, inks by Dick Ayers; Riding into town during a storm, the Rawhide Kid is greeted by Sheriff Ben Yarby who tells the Kid that a freak lightning strike managed to free Bat Kimball out of his cell, however they hope to capture him as the lightning had blinded him and they go out searching for him. 36 pgs., full color. "Indian Bow" text story. Untitled story, art by Dick Ayers; Rawhide Kid and his ward Randy Clayton are shut in during a storm when Randy suddenly notices a man standing in front of one of the windows; The Kid goes to the door and greets the man who asks for their help as he is being chased; He explains that he is Russ Howland the lawman for Javlin County and he has been chased by the Briggs brothers of whom he has warrants out for their arrest that will see them in jail for life. "The Last Roundup!", art by Dick Ayers; Witnessing a stampede of cattle, the Rawhide Kid and Randy Clayton rush in and manage to stop the herd; They are confronted by the cattle drivers who accuse the Kid of starting the stampede, but when they try to take him by force he shoots the guns out of their hands and tells them his story. "Kid Six-Gun," script by Stan Lee, art by Pete Morisi. "Six Gun Decision!", art by Dick Ayers; The Rawhide Kid has taken Randy into Shotgun City to get his haircut when suddenly bullets start crashing in through the window Looking outside the window, the Rawhide Kid sees two men taking shots at a lone unarmed man. 36 pgs., full color. "Condemned!", art by Dick Ayers; The Rawhide Kid witnesses as Buck Garrett, the ride of the Shasta stage that crashed being taken in as prisoner by Sheriff Ben Yarby; Angry at the idea that Garrett abandoned the coach before it crashed, a mob has gathered outside Shotgun City looking for vigilante justice, but the Rawhide Kid intervenes and holds them back long enough while the sheriff brings him in. "Western Schooner" text story, art by Joe Maneely. "The Renegade Stallion!", art by Dick Ayers; While out riding with Randy Clayton, the Rawhide Kid spots a Pony Express stallion running wild and the two capture it; They then follow its back trail and come across Jim Kendall, the rider of the horse; He tells them that he was attacked by some men, and in order to prevent them from taking his shipment of gold, he sent his horse running. "Miracle on Mesquite Flats!", art by Dick Ayers; The Rawhide Kid rides into Shotgun City where he spots a gunman walking into Dr. Gil Jackson's office; The Kid easily disarms the shooter; The Kid finds that Gil is cryptically light hearted about the attempted robbery, as he is flattered that the masked gunman thought he had any money and tells the Kid to set the man free. "The Gun!", script by Stan Lee, art by Pete Morisi. "The Swamp Phantom!", art by Dick Ayers; The Rawhide Kid and Randy Clayton are investigating the report of the so-called "swamp phantom" who has been trying to keep people out of the swamp that has just been opened up as free land by the government when suddenly they are shot at; The pair dive for cover while the Randy lays out cover fire; the Kid goes around to try and get the drop on the shooters. 36 pgs., full color. "The New Sheriff," art by Joe Maneely. "The Lost Spur!", art by Dick Ayers; The Rawhide Kid and his ward Randy Clayton spot a fire that is raging on Professor Scott's ranch and come to the aid of the Professor's family; They are too late to stop the fire from destroying Scott's home, but the Professor and his family manage to escape; Scott explains to the Rawhide Kid that some masked men burned his home to the ground. "Race Against Time!", art by Dick Ayers; Hearing that Faro James was plotting to rob the Gold Cost Express which was carrying a large sum of gold, the Rawhide Kid races to the train on his horse Apache and jumps aboard; The Kid doesn't know what Faro looks like so he begins provoking other passengers to see if they will reveal themselves as James. "The Last Warning!", art by Dick Ayers; With a drought hitting Shotgun City water is scarce thanks in part to the Gore Brothers damming up their water so none of it gets to town; When the Rawhide Kid spots the Gore Brothers trying to take water from his trough, the Kid shoots their water bags and forces them off his property, but they vow to get revenge against him. "A Part of the West" text story. "Bullets or Ballots!", art by Dick Ayers; Tippy Cole and his gang try to enter Shotgun City, but the Rawhide Kid is there to block their way, telling them to scram or the sheriff will lock them up; However Tippy, who has studied law, tells the Rawhide Kid that Sheriff Ben Yarby's position as sheriff has expired that day and they don't have a legal sheriff in town. "The Scourge of the Plains!", art by Dick Ayers; The town of Shotgun City is on full alert when the ugly outlaw named Clem Boggs rides into town; When Boggs arrives and begins causing trouble, the Rawhide Kid easily disarms him and berates him based on his looks before sending Clem packing. "A Vow of Vengeance!", art by Dick Ayers; As the Rawhide Kid and Randy Clayton are out riding a young man named Billy Tappan tries to take a shot at the Kid, but Randy spots the shooter and quickly ropes him up before he can fire; The sheriff is called in and the young man accuses the Rawhide Kid of rustling his family's cattle and burning down their barn ten years ago. 36 pgs., full color.
