November 1990: Despite having his "thug tactics" exposed by the Daily Sentinel and other media outlets, Leon Marshall is elected mayor; Several members of the city council "mysteriously resign" and are immediately replaced by mayoral interim appointees, who quickly pass oppressive laws, with judges who are Marshall cronies blocking court challenges; Hayashi's brother Kumara is scheduled to visit to discuss perceived problems with the US-based Kato's martial arts movies, but shows up in a drugged state and fights Hayashi, who loses out of an unwillingness to hurt him and is imprisoned; An armed assault on Reid Tower via helicopters occurs when Paul Reid is home alone, but he escapes by way of the secret doors, elevators, and passageways of the Green Hornet operation. 36 pgs., full color. $2.50. Black Marauders Solitary Sentinel Part 2, script by James Van Hise, pencils by Terry Tidwell and Ken Penders, inks by David Mowry and Dave Simons; As Paul Reid has been declared a wanted man by the corrupt city government of Mayor Leon Marshall, he hits the streets as the Green Hornet, albeit using his Uncle Britt's old garb and gear; He soon finds regular police arresting small-time hood Blinky McQuade and the mayor's newly-created special police trying to take him from them, at gunpoint. The Sting eliminates that threat to the men in blue, and the Hornet's charge for his life-saving services is possession of McQuade; The little thug agrees to take a request for a meet to his employer, Boss Snark. 36 pgs., full color. $2.50. Crime, Solitary Sentinel Part 3, script by James Van Hise, pencils by Ken Penders, inks by Tony DeZuniga; The Green Hornet (Paul, still in Britt's gear and car) learns of the new, Black one from a Daily Sentinel front page story (why Marshall allowed that info into the paper at all is a mystery) and does not know what to make of it; As he heads back to the city after checking Kato's beach house, he spots a light flashing a Morse code message, leading him into a meeting with "Blackie," who unmasks for Paul; Captain Dent tracks down Blinky McQuade to find out what happened after the Green Hornet took him from both police, but the little hood doesn't talk, at the ultimate cost; A move of Hayashi and Diana from jail to the courthouse proves to be a successful trap for the Black Hornet, who upon capture is unmasked as Britt. 36 pgs., full color. $2.50.
