Volume 101- 1st printing. "Roman Auxiliary Cavalryman!" Written by Nic Fields. Art by Adam Hook. Drawn from a wide range of warlike peoples throughout the provinces, especially on the fringes of the empire, auxiliaries were generally not citizens of the Roman empire. Motivation for enlisting, conditions of service and experience of battle are all explored, and colour illustrations support the text. Softcover, 64 pages, PC/PB&W. Cover price $18.95.

Volume 102- 1st printing. "The Hitler Youth 1933-45!" Written by Alan Dearn. Art by Elizabeth Sharp. A chilling and modern embodiment of the loss of innocence, the Hitler Youth movement transformed German children into adult Nazis entirely focused on Allied defeat. Despite not being itself a military formation - rather a movement that sought to inculcate Nazi ideology - paramilitary training did however form an important part of this education due to the Nazi veneration of the soldier as the epitome of Germanic manhood. Some members of the Bund Deutscher Mädel, the Hitler Youth organization for girls, even became combatants in the final stages of the war. Covering the range of a child's indoctrination, from ideology to training, this rare exploration of the Nazi culture provides the reader with a complete insight into the preliminary training of Germany's youth, and how they became directly involved in military service under the pressure of total war. Softcover, 64 pages, PC/PB&W. Cover price $18.95.

Volume 104- 1st printing. "Tudor Knight!" Written by Christopher Gravett. Art by Graham Turner. The Tudor knight was the first line of defence employed by monarchs from Henry VIII to Elizabeth I, the last of a long tradition of knighthood dating back to the 11th century. Knighthood during the Tudor era saw reforms in recruitment, appearance, and most radically in training and equipment. This book details those changes, profiling the knight's appearance and dress, life on campaign, and experience of battle in France, Scotland and Ireland. It also explores the concept of chivalry, as sensationally enacted by Henry VIII and Francis I of France at the celebrated Field of Cloth of Gold near Calais, in 1520. Softcover, 64 pages, PC/PB&W. Cover price $18.95.

Volume 108 - 1st printing. "Mau-Mau Warrior!" Written by Abiodun Alao. Art by Christa Hook. The Mau-Mau uprising (1952-60) remains a controversial conflict, waged by warriors about whom many myths have been formed, but little truth has been written. Condemned by history as a brutal rag-tag force engaged in oath-taking, cannibalism and witchcraft, the military activities of the Mau-Mau have long been overlooked. Although their skill, organization and unique motivation forced the British government to undertake the longest airlift in military history, and to deploy extensive force at a cost of almost £60 million, before it could claim victory. This book reveals the real men and women behind the Mau-Mau; the truth behind the oaths that bound them together; and how they became powerful. Softcover, 64 pages, PC/PB&W. Cover price $18.95.

Volume 109- 1st printing. "US Marine Corps Raider 1942-43!" Written by Ed Gilbert. Art by Howard Gerrard. The US Marine Raider was an elite within an elite. Modeled on British Commandoes, they were the earliest forerunners of the various special operations units of the modern US military. These units would conduct operations with only the equipment they could carry on their backs; their heaviest weapons were light mortars and light machine-guns. Highly trained in close-in fighting, the Raiders were expected to be equally skilled in watercraft, jungle survival, and jungle warfare. This book details the Raiders' experiences through some of the toughest raining ever to be experienced by a Marine and onto combat during the Makin Raid, and through the horrific jungle battles of the Solomon Islands. Softcover, 64 pages, PC/PB&W. Cover price $18.95.

Volume 110- 1st printing. "Hitler's Home Guard: Volkssturmmann!" Written by David K. Yelton. Art by Seán Ó'Brógáin. The creation of the Volkssturm on October 18, 1944 was a desperate measure by the Nazi government; all able-bodied males between the ages of 16 and 60 who were not already members of the German Armed Forces were conscripted into one organization. Poor equipment, lack of training and low morale took their toll on these men, who were unused to fighting and had little interest in needlessly dying just to prolong the Nazi regime. David K. Yelton follows the experience of a Volkssturmmann from his call-to-arms through to his capture and treatment as a POW, examining his reaction to the creation of the German Home Guard and his response to the fighting into which he was thrust. Softcover, 64 pages, PC/PB&W. Cover price $18.95.

Volume 111- 1st printing. "The Hun!" Written by Nic Fields. Art by Christa Hook. The Huns were the most feared barbarians of the Ancient world, known to their Roman enemies as the 'scourge of god'. Superb horsemen and excellent archers, they fought with a reflex composite-bow that could penetrate armour at 100 metres. In battle they would rush into the fray with surprising speed and apparent chaos, maintaining an incessant barrage until the enemy was sufficiently weakened; thus their very name came to epitomise swift, merciless destruction. This book explores the rise of the Huns and their development in terms of equipment, tactics and society, from their first attacks on the Goths to the death of the Emperor Justinian, including the great battle of Chalons and the reign of Attila. Softcover, 64 pages, PC/PB&W Cover price $18.95.

Volume 112- 1st printing. "US Marine Rifleman 1939-45!" Written by Gordon L Rottman. Art by Howard Gerrard. The Marine Corps began World War II with less than 66,000 officers and men. Yet despite suffering 10 per cent of the overall American casualties, the Marines were able to build on their proud traditions and history to transform a small branch of service into a premier combined arms amphibious assault force. Regardless of its expansion by 750 percent, the Corps was able to maintain its sense of tradition, instill that into thousands of new Marines, and create an elite arm of service. In this book, Gordon Rottman, follows a Marine Corps rifleman through his draft, training and participation in assaults such as: Roi-Namur in the Marshall Islands, Saipan and Tinian in the Mariana Islands, and Iwo Jima. Softcover, 64 pages, PC/PB&W. Cover price $18.95.

Volume 119- 1st printing. "American Bomber Crewman 1941-45!" Written by Gregory Fremont-Barnes. Art by Seán Ó'Brógáin. Gregory Fremont-Barnes examines the lives of the American Bomber Crewmen of the Eighth Air Force, 'The Mighty Eighth', who manned, maintained and repaired the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortresses and the B-24 Liberators that flew from the airfields of England. He highlights the physical and psychological strain placed on these men, who required brute strength to control the aircraft on long bombing missions and extraordinary endurance to fly for hours at 20,000 feet at temperatures below freezing in unpressurised cabins. Volume 127- 1st printing. "Native American Code Talker in World War II!" Written by Ed Gilbert. Art by Raffaele Ruggeri. 'Were it not for the Navajo Code Talkers the Marines would never have taken Iwo Jima and other places' (Anonymous, Marine Corps signal officer). Ed Gilbert uses personal interviews with veterans to tell their fascinating story. Beginning with the first operational use of Native American languages in World War I, he explores how in World War II the US again came to employ this subtle, but powerful 'weapon.' Despite all efforts, the Japanese were never able to decode their messages and the Navajo code talkers contributed significantly to US victories in the Pacific. Approximately 400 Navajos served in this crucial role. Their legend of the 'code talker' has been celebrated by Hollywood in films, such as Windtalkers, and this book reveals the real-life story of their extraordinary involvement in World War II. Volume 128- 1st printing. "US Helicopter Pilot in Vietnam!" Written by Gordon L Rottman. Art by Steve Noon. The helicopter changed war forever. This book examines the range of duties helicopter pilots carried out in Vietnam, from air-lift, med-evac and fire-support to landing in high volume crossfires in 'Hot LZs'. Protected by little more than an armoured seat, operating in terrible conditions and flying long hours these brave men led hard, dangerous lives, and casualties were high. Following these pilots from initial deployment through to the deadly thrill of combat in a war zone, Vietnam veteran Gordon L Rottman's book is a crucial examination of the pilots who fought so valiantly for their country. Often unmoved by the politics of the war, conflicts at home and other social issues, the Vietnam helicopter pilots just wanted to fly. As the saying went 'who needs drugs, I'm already high'. Volume 134- 1st printing. "French Poilu 1914-18!" Written by Ian Sumner. Art by Giuseppe Rava. During World War One the French Army was in a state of disarray, plagued by indiscipline, mutinies and desertion. The ordinary French citizens that were called upon to defend their motherland - the Poilu - were disrespected and demoralized, and the infamous mutinies of 1917 by the Poilu were not protests against the war itself, but against how the war was conducted. Ian Sumner expertly charts the history of the Poilu, from the conscription of hundreds of thousands of men, through their training, to the horrors of the trenches and the fear of no man's land. Accompanied by new artwork and diagrams, this book provides a fascinating insight into the experiences of ordinary Frenchman called upon to defend their motherland. Softcover, 64 pages, PC/PB&W. Volume 139- 1st printing. "Byzantine Cavalryman c.900-1204!" Written by Timothy Dawson. Art by Giuseppe Rava. Regarded as the elite arm of the military during the Middle Byzantine period, the cavalry executed high speed reconnaissance, agile arrow barrages and crippling blows to enemy formations. Its ranks were filled primarily through direct recruitment or hereditary service by holders of military lands, but in times of crisis irregulars would be temporarily enlisted. Few books provide any accessible study of the medieval Romaic soldier's life, and this colourful addition to the Warrior series seeks to redress this imbalance. Offering a thorough and detailed examination of their training, weaponry, dress and daily life, this book re-affirms the importance of cavalry troops in military victories of the period. Making use of original Greek source material, and featuring unpublished manuscript images, this follow-on volume to Warrior 118 Byzantine Infantryman c.900-1204 brings the world of the Byzantine cavalryman vividly to life. Softcover, 64 pages, PC/PB&W. Cover price $18.95.

Volume 140- 1st printing. "US Mechanized Infantryman in the First Gulf War!" Written by Gordon L Rottman. Art by Adam Hook. In many ways the end of the Vietnam War left the US army a spent force. Plagued by low morale, drug and race issues, and terrible public relations, the army faced an uphill climb in the effort to rebuild itself. The story of this reconstruction is mirrored in the rise of the Mechanized Infantryman. Deciding that the key to future conflict lay in highly trained and mobile warriors that could be delivered quickly to battle, the army adopted the mechanized infantryman as its frontline troops. This new, all volunteer force was given the best training and equipment. Most notably, they were to be deployed onto the battlefield from the new M2 Bradley Armoured Fighting Vehicle. This new breed of American warriors got their first test in the First Gulf War. Fighting in the deserts of Kuwait and Iraq, these soldiers proved that the US Army was once again a force with which to be reckoned. This book tells the story of the rise of the US mechanised infantryman, focusing on his recruitment, training, lifestyle and combat experiences in Iraq. Softcover, 64 pages, PC/PB&W. Cover price $18.95.

Volume 141- 1st printing. "Merrill's Marauders!" Written by Edward Young. Art by Adam Hook. Merrill's Marauders were the first American Army infantry unit to fight in the China-Burma-India theatre, and one of the most renowned units to come out of World War II. The Marauders established a lasting reputation for hard fighting and tenacity in the face of adversity, combating a determined enemy, some of the most difficult and disease-ridden terrain in the world, and a seemingly indifferent higher command. Pushed beyond the limit of their endurance, at the end of nearly six months of operations behind Japanese lines, the remaining Marauders were withdrawn from combat after suffering over 90% casualties. Because of its courageous actions, the unit received the very rare honour of having every member presented with a Bronze Star for gallantry. This book explores the creation, training and combat experiences of the Marauders, one of the most famous units in the US Army's roll of honour. Softcover, 64 pages, PC/PB&W. Cover price $18.95.

Volume 142- 1st printing. "Blue Division Soldier 1941-45!" Written by Carlos Caballero Jurado. Art by Ramiro Bujeiro. The all-volunteer 'Blue Division' was a formation that allowed Franco's technically neutral Spain to support Nazi Germany's invasion of Russia. Following initial training in Germany, the Blue Division's units were sent to the Eastern Front in August 1941, where, after a 40-day march to the front, the Division fought in several major actions including Leningrad. In 1943, with the tide turning against the Axis forces in Russia, the Division was ordered to be withdrawn, yet many men chose to stay on and serve with the Volunteer Legion. Even after the collapse in the East, some volunteered to serve with Waffen-SS units through to the fall of Berlin in 1945. This book narrates the experiences of the common soldier, exploring his motivation for serving the Wehrmacht, and detailing his dramatic experiences in a brutal and hostile theatre of World War II. Softcover, 64 pages, PC/PB&W Cover price $18.95.

Volume 146- 1st printing. "German Pionier 1939-45!" Written by Gordon L Rottman. Art by Carlos Chagas. The German Army of World War II collectively referred to its various engineer units as Pioniere (Pioneers). This organization included Pioniertruppen (Pioneer Troops), Bautruppen (Construction Troops), Eisenbahntruppen (Railway Troops), and Technische Truppen (Technical Troops). They were first and foremost assault troops, and construction workers second. They were tasked with overcoming manmade and natural obstacles, and in the attack they supported the infantry as specialist assault troops, attacking fortified positions with demolitions and flamethrowers. In the defence they constructed fortifications and shelters, erected obstacles, laid minefields, planted booby traps, cleared fields of fire, erected camouflage, and maintained supply routes. This book examines the recruitment and special training of a German Pionier. It also covers life in the field while on campaign, their role in supporting infantry assaults. Softcover, 64 pages, PC/PB&W. Cover price $18.95.
