Mystery novelist Kendall Richards becomes the crime-fighting Bogey Man (who looks just like The Spirit with a mustache) after gangsters target him for death. Strange chance leads young Joe Djerk to become apprentice to the Sorcerer, in a story featuring nice magical art and tongue-in-cheek humor, such as a wizard mentioning Cthulu.
