Simpsons Comics and Stories Butterfinger Mini Comic Edition (1993) is a giveaway (despite the $2.50 cover price) variant of the full-size comic, with all the stories and ads that appear in the regular edition. The cool thing about this small-sized No. 1 is that it was found only in packages of Butterfinger candy bars. That's why it's so small. It may have come out BEFORE the actual No. 1 issue hit the stands, which would make this mini comic edition the first appearance of the Simpsons. As with the full-sized edition, stories include "Lo, There Shall Come a Bartman" (co-plot by Cindy Vance, script, layouts, and inks by Steve Vance, inks by Bill Morrison and Mike Anderson), "Bring Me the Head of El Barto" (script and art by Morrison), and "Maggie's Excellent Adventure" (co-story and layouts by Steve Vance, co-story by Cindy Vance, finished art by Ray Supreme). Cover price $2.50.

By Mike Reiss.
Four-time Emmy winner Mike Reiss, who has worked on The Simpsons continuously since episode one in 1989, shares stories, scandals, and gossip about working with America's most iconic cartoon family ever. Reiss explains how the episodes are created, and provides an inside look at the show's writers, animators, actors and celebrity guests. In his freewheeling, irreverent comic style, Reiss reflects on his lifetime inside The Simpsons. Springfield Confidential exposes why Matt Groening decided to make all of the characters yellow; dishes on what it's like to be crammed in a room full of funny writers sixty hours a week; and tells what Reiss learned after traveling to seventy-one countries where The Simpsons is watched; and even reveals where Springfield is located!
Hardcover, 6-in.x 9-in., 336 pages, Text. Cover price $27.99.
