Written by Kevin J. Anderson. Art by Dario Carrasco, Jr., Mark G. Heike, Bill Black and David Jacob Beckett. Cover by Russell Walks. Navigators and explorers are a special breed -- they blaze the paths others will follow. They must have strength, drive, and hope, and be more than a little fearless. But nowhere is it written that they must have luck. Gav and Jori Daragon make their living charting the routes of hyperspace and selling those routes to traders and haulers. When a starswarm cluster batters their ship, they land on the planet Cinnagar, destitue and forlorn, and convince the relatively amiable Aarrba the Hutt to make the necessary repairs. 32 pages, FC. Cover price $2.95.

They were the greatest heroes of their age, "An age of gold and virgin wonder. When no crook, or spy or saboteur felt safe." Featuring a gold foil logo on the cover of each issue, THE GOLDEN AGE is a 4-issue Elseworlds miniseries set during the start of one of the darkest periods of U.S. history: the infamous "McCarthy Era." THE GOLDEN AGE takes a thought-provoking look at what might have happened to DC's first generation of super-heroes beyond their exploits during the Second World War, when paranoia has taken a chokehold on America and DC's first generation of super-heroes is driven into retirement or hiding, or madness - except for a few who are willing to change with the times. And behind the scenes, something even more sinister is unfolding - a subtle plot that may engulf the planet and remake it in one man's image. Written by James Robinson, with art and gold foil-embossed cover by Paul Smith, and colors by Richard Ory. Prestige Format. Cover price $4.95.

Volume 1 - 1st printing. "May 1940-March 1941 and September 1940-May 1941!" Stories and art by Will Eisner, Lou Fine,Otto Binder, John Cassone, Charles Sultan, John Belfi, and Rudy Palais. Lou Fine was one of the most impressive and influential artists to ever work in comics. His fluid figures were admired and copied by such greats as Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. In the early 40's, the heyday of the Golden Age, he worked for Everett M. "Busy" Arnold at Quality Comics along with such greats as Reed Crandall, Jack Cole and Will Eisner and in addition to his impressive covers, he worked on such comics as the Black Condor; aka Richard Grey Jr. having lost his parents was raised by giant black condors and after studying his condor foster parents, he learned to fly. He befriended a hermit monk named Father Pierre who convinced him that he should use his unique attributes to do good and so was born the Black Condor. Lou Fine also created The Ray, a reporter named Hubert 'Happy' Terrill who was covering the story of a high-flying "strato-balloon" exploring the upper atmosphere. An electrical storm struck and while closing the outer airlock door, "Happy" got the full brunt of the storm's energy and the unfiltered sunlight giving him his super powers to absorb energy from his surroundings and emit it from his body in any form he chose, also using it to propel himself through the air. Volume 1 - 1st printing. "1944 to Spring 1946!" Collects The Spirit (1944-1950 Quality) #1-4. Cover by Lou Fine. Featuring Stories by Lou Fine and Will Eisner. The Spirit is a fictional masked crime fighter created by cartoonist Will Eisner, who fights crime with the blessing of the city's police commissioner Dolan, an old friend. Despite the Spirit's origin as detective/criminologist Denny Colt, his real identity was rarely referred to after his first appearance, and for all intents and purposes he was simply "The Spirit." The stories are presented in a wide variety of styles, from straight forward crime drama and noir to lighthearted adventure, from mystery and horror to comedy and love stories, often with hybrid elements that twisted genre and reader expectations. Quality Comics was an American comic book publishing company that operated from 1937 to 1956 and was largely influential in creating the Golden Age of comic books. From 1940-1950, printer Everett M. "Busy" Arnold reprinted Eisner's Spirit stories under his Quality Comics banner. Comic book stories from the 1940s and 1950s may depict some ethnic and racial prejudices that were once commonplace in American culture. Such depictions were wrong then and are wrong today. While not representing the publisher's view of today's society, these stories are printed as they were originally created, because to do otherwise would be the same as claiming these prejudices never existed. Hardcover, 208 pages, full color. Cover price $52.99.

In August 1939 a new voice hit the newsstands and changed the comic-book world forever: MARVEL COMICS #1, with its blazing Human Torch cover, had arrived!
This 64-page pulp package wasn't your typical assortment of super-powered, straight-laced, do-gooders-this was something completely new. The amazing android creation of Dr. Phineas Horton, the Human Torch was neither man nor hero-he was a blazing force of nature that shocked and unsettled mankind. Prince Namor, the Sub-Mariner, the half-human/half-Atlantean, ventures from his undersea kingdom into the world of man-not with a mind set on peace, but towards vengeance!
These two characters would form the foundation for the style of conflicted hero that defines Marvel to this day, and you'll see them evolve across twelve full issues from their raw forms into the battling fire and water mega-hits of the Golden Age!
They're flanked by an eclectic set born out of the fast-paced energy and imagination of the Golden Age including the heroic Angel; the wild and incomparable robot invention, Electro; the hard-edged detective, the Ferret; Terry Vance, the boy adventurer; the Western Masked Raider; and the ongoing jungle adventures of Ka-Zar, the Great.
Featuring an extensive essay on Marvel's pulp magazine pre-history, publisher Martin Goodman and the birth of Marvel Comics by noted historian Will Murray, and topped off with special bonus features including original artwork and items never seen since 1939, this collection forms the cornerstone of Marvel history essential for every comic book fan, collector and historian!
