Boy Who Loved Batman HC (2011 Chronicle Books) 1-1ST

    1st printing.

    By Michael E. Uslan.

When he was 8, Michael Uslan fell in love with Batman. He watched unhappily as the dark, serious superhero he knew and loved was turned into a campy goofball in the '60s TV show starring Adam West, and in 1979 he purchased the film rights to Batman. After ten years of desperately pitching a film that no one wanted, he sold and then produced Tim Burton's critically acclaimed and phenomenally popular Batman.

Having produced every Batman film to date, Uslan recounts his story here, in a memoir that will draw in all the boys and girls (of all ages) throughout the world who love Batman.

    Hardcover, 320 pages, full color.

Krazy Little Comics (1967 Topps): Badman is one of sixteen parody mini-comics originally produced as test market items in 1967, by the Topps Chewing Gum Company. They did not see full national distribution. All were written by Roy Thomas and feature Wally Wood cover and interior art. These minis spoof not only Marvel and DC super-heroes, but other comic characters as well, like the Phantom, Prince Valiant, and Tarzan. These possibly predate, or are at least contemporaneous with, Not Brand Ecch! #1 (08/1967), and are among the rarest of the Merry Marvel Marching Society era items. Full color, 2.5-in. x 3.5-in., no cover price, 8 pages.

Written by Jim Starlin, George Perez, and Marv Wolfman. Art by Jim Aparo, Tom Grummett, Mike DeCarlo, Bob McLeod, and George Perez. Cover by Jim Aparo.

The Batman classic of the 1980s is collected in a hardcover featuring stories previously released seperately as BATMAN: A DEATH IN THE FAMILY and BATMAN: A LONELY PLACE OF DYING for the first time in one place! Including BATMAN #426-429 and 440-442 and THE NEW TITANS #60-61!

Readers were invited to vote on the outcome of this story - and they decided that Jason Todd should die! In this tragic tale, Jason lived up to his hot-headed reputation, ignoring his mentor's warnings when he attempts to take on The Joker by himself and paying the ultimate price. Driven by anger, with Superman by his side, Batman seeks his vengeance as he looks to end The Joker's threat forever. A DEATH IN THE FAMILY. In his ultimate showdown with the Boy Wonder, the Joker teams up with the most unlikely of allies -- Batman's readers! The year was 1988 -- the 50th anniversary of the Dark Knight Detective -- and his fans had been given an unprecedented opportunity to decide the outcome of one of his most pivotal stories. The choice? Whether to keep the status quo of Batman and Robin, the Dynamic Duo, or return Batman to what he once was -- a brooding, one-man war on crime. A vote was held, the results were honored, and history was made -- following his most devastating defeat, Robin was killed and Batman was once again Gotham's lone protector. But what would the ramifications of this tragedy be? Would Batman become a more focused champion of justice, or would he degenerate into a reckless vigilante, unable to recover from such a loss? These questions would be answered in the 5-part follow-up story A LONELY PLACE OF DYING, along with the biggest question of all: Does Batman need a Robin?

This volume of DC COMICS CLASSICS LIBRARY collects both of these iconic tales, as well as anecdotes by writer Marv Wolfman.

    Hardcover, 272 pages, full color.

Batman Child of Dreams TPB (2003 DC) 1-1ST

    1st printing.

Story and art by Kia Asamiya. Translated by Max Allan Collins. Painted cover by Kia Asamiya.

When a crime spree takes the Dark Knight from the familiar turf of Gotham City across the globe to Tokyo, he finds himself locked in mortal combat with his greatest enemies...but are they really what they appear to be?

This graphic novel presents famed manga creator and Uncanny X-Men artist Kia Asamiya's (Silent Moebius, Steam Detectives) uncompromising take on the World's Greatest Detective, first serialized in Japan and now collected in English in one mammoth hardcover volume! Originally presented over a year-long span in the pages of Kodansha's Magazine Z, CHILD OF DREAMS has been painstakingly adapted by acclaimed mystery novelist Max Allan Collins (ROAD TO PERDITION, BATMAN).

The question at the heart of this story is whether Batman is truly at war with the familiar members of his Rogue's Gallery - The Joker, The Riddler, Two-Face, The Penguin, and Catwoman - or if they're just bizarre simulations brought on by Fanatic, a new drug that's hit the mean streets of Gotham City. Batman soon learns that Fanatic turns would-be super-villains into facsimiles of the genuine article...with just one hitch: After a few hours, they melt down into mummified corpses!

Now it's up to Batman to put a decisive stop to the chaos caused by Fanatic, even if the battle takes him to another continent! This is far more than just another Batman story; it represents an iconic figure transcending the international borders of comic-book style and finding a interpretation from a distinctly different cultural perspective!

    Softcover, 352 pages, B&W.

    Cover price $19.95.
