As the Comics Code goes into effect, Harvey shifts the former Chamber of Chills horror comic to reprints of the Kerry Drake detective comic strip. A case of mistaken identity leads detective Kerry Drake to a confrontation with drug smugglers in Key West. Female sheriff Kitty Carson joins a charity rodeo in New York City and winds up chasing robbers. Ann is romanced by handsome Antonio while attending Mardi Gras in Rio de Janeiro... but can it last? The Cisco Kid rode the range as the Robin Hood of the Old West with his corpulent sidekick Pancho, earning a permanent place in 20th-century pop culture. Along the way, they try to warn an Army caravan about the renegades, but the green lieutenant doesn't believe them. While attending Antonio and Raquel's wedding, Cisco investigates why someone would kidnap the bride and try to shoot the groom. Plus advice on finding your way if lost in the wilderness. Comics Television and Children (February, 1955, 1st Edition, Ave Maria Press, 10c cover price) by Floyd Anderson, the managing editor of "The Advocate," a Christian newspaper from Newark, New Jersey. Anderson examines the violence, sex, and other inappropriate content found in the media, with particular attention paid to TV and comic books. Because Comics Television and Children is not solely about comics, it does not go into great depth, but it does discusses the Comics Code, calls for censorship, parental responsibility, and the government hearings on comics. Cover Girls Models Magazine was an early men's interest publication distributed between November, 1949 and December, 1955 that focused mainly on bathing suit pin-up photography, but also included the occasional Hollywood tabloid human-interest story. 8" x 10.5", 66 pages, B&W. For those who love a little horse opera with their soap opera, Charlton presents tales of romance and heartbreak on the Western frontier.
