First issue (continues from Sub-Mariner). First Marvel horror comic. Even in 1949, comics were coming under fire for lurid covers and content. This Marvel issue contains a letter to the reader and the reader's parents which addresses the controversy, a controversy that would grow until the advent of Frederick Wortham and the Comics Code. Mortimer Snerd gets a job at the circus working with the elephants, but that's not as much fun as it sounds. Bessie, Mortimer's cow, gets a chance to be a hero. In a Western tale, Judge Rawson runs the town, and when Charlie and Mortimer get in his way, he sends outlaw Coyote Kane after them.
