It includes a button pen featuring a jovial clown, a large sticker feature King Features characters like Blondie and Dagwood, Snuffy Smith, Flash Gordon, Little Jodine, and others, a membership card, and an invitation to have your friends join the club. Also included is the Comic Weekly Club Funtime book. This booklet is eight pages of fun with coloring, puzzles, and games. However, the gem of this kit is the mini hardcover Blondie and Dagwood book featuring over a hundred pages of fun with the characters created by Chic Young. Written while Wertham was a psychiatrist at a hospital in New York City, this book recounts the murder by a teenage son of his mother. A policeman working the Lower East Side notices Gino, wearing no shoes, only socks, buying candy for his younger siblings so they will stop crying. The policeman goes back to the tenement apartment and finds the dying woman and the crying children. Wertham examines the bewildering case in detail and recounts Gino's story from in-depth interviews. Not illustrated. 5 1/2-in. x 8 1/4-in., 270 pages, B&W text.
