First issue (continues from Sub-Mariner). First Marvel horror comic. Even in 1949, comics were coming under fire for lurid covers and content. This Marvel issue contains a letter to the reader and the reader's parents which addresses the controversy, a controversy that would grow until the advent of Frederick Wortham and the Comics Code. It makes interesting reading along with the stories in this issue. Cover price $0.10.
