$900.00- Label #0008872-AA-002
Cover by Marc Swayze. Stories and art by Dave Berg, Otto Binder, and Marc Swayze. A Fawcett anthology with an emphasis on superhero adventure. In only her second appearance (after her debut in Captain Marvel Adventures (1941-1953 Fawcett) #18), Mary Marvel tracks sinister Santas stealing orphans' toys, and gets help from Mr. Scarlet, Pinky and the original Captain Marvel. Commando Yank must retrieve Dr. Nordlung and his plans for an "unsmashable tank" from the Norwegian castle of a Nazi "Quisling" - even if he needs the help of ancient Vikings to do it. In a turning point for the series, Mr. Scarlet and Pinky have been so effective at stopping crime that Scarlet's alter ego, Brian Butler, loses his job as DA. Plus an early story by future Mad "Lighter Side" artist Dave Berg. Mary Marvel: The Night Before Xmas; Last Ship from Marseilles; Mr. Scarlet: Make-Believe Mastermind; Phantom Eagle: Down Under; Commando Yank: The Terrific Toy; Spooks: Creepy Fantasy. 64 pages, Full Color. Cover price $0.10.
