Screen Stars Magazine was one among many of the supermarket celebrity tabloids that focused heavily on the day to day lives of the Hollywood elite, during the golden-age of cinema. This publication is filled cover to cover with typical fodder such as candid celebrity photos (some of which are in color), gossip columns, reader's letters to the editor, and the latest motion picture advertisements. 8.5" x 10.5", 74 pages, mostly B&W with a few color photos. This issue switches main characters again, now focusing on Western legends Kit Carson, Jim Bowie and Daniel Boone. Kit Carson is based on the character from the popular 1951-1955 television series "The Adventures of Kit Carson." Kit Carson manages to rescue a man thrown into the rapids, only for them both to be captured by rustlers when they get to shore. The new sheriff of Sandy Creek is a bully who jails anyone who crosses him, and that includes Daniel Boone. Stories and art by Harold Abbey and others. Spunky looks quite a bit like Casper, but is actually a spinoff of Farrell's Frisky Fables series. Spunky becomes the sheriff of a Western ghost town - populated by ghosts, of course. Dopsy Durvy decides to "fix" the Jack and the Beanstalk story, and winds up confronting the giant himself. Pidgy Parrot uses his Magic Paint to sail to the South Seas, but runs afoul of the ocean god Neptune.
