War Insignia Stamp Album, Volume Two, March 1942. Distributed by the Hearst Corporation. During World War II animation studios volunteered their services to create mascots and insignias for all branches of the military that wanted one. Characters such as Disney's Donald Duck, Lantz's Woody Woodpecker and more well-established characters are well represented along with original creations as requested. This booklet has 50 full color stamps (51-101) that were pasted into the matching text and number block. A short profile of each military unit plus the thinking and design behind the insignia are next to each stamp. Stamps are in both vertical and horizontal formats and measure a uniform 2-in. x 1 1/2-in. A unique collectible, beautifully produced. 7 1/2-in. x 10 1/4-in., 16 sepia-tone pages, black and white.
