First edition, 1975, part of the deluxe Robert E. Howard Conan set published by Donald Grant. Limited to 3,000 copies. This is the first hardcover publication of Red Nails, considered by many to be one of Howard's finest stories. Illustrated in color and B&W by George Barr. Four color plates hand-tipped onto burgundy stock. Entire book is typeset in a dark burgundy font. Double-page frontispiece, numerous decorations, three full-page and seven chapter heading illustrations are rendered in pen and ink, displaying Barr's meticulous style. An inspired effort by Barr, showcased by the peerless production by Donald Grant. A labor of love all around. 7 1/4-in. x 10 1/4-in., 144 pages, printed in burgundy ink. Cover price $15.00.
