Charlton's popular series features tales of science fiction and fantasy with twist endings. Fred makes the mistake of speaking out in defense of Communism, and soon gets an object lesson, in a Cold War story. Donald gets his wish to join his elaborate Civil War miniatures in their world, but he's forgotten about the family housecat, Satin. Felix terrorizes local beachgoers to get publicity for a monster movie, but he doesn't suspect a real monster is out there too. The cover bears a strong resemblance to the Gill-Man of The Creature from the Black Lagoon movie franchise. Vol. 18 #53 - June 1962. Science Fantasy, which later became Impulse and then SF Impulse, was a UK published science-fiction and fantasy digest that began production in the Summer of 1950 and was distributed by Nova Publications as a companion to Nova's New Worlds. When Nova went out of business in early 1964, The title was changed to Impulse in early 1966, to little avail, and then changed once more to SF Impulse for the last few issues. Science Fantasy ceased publication the following year, after the printer went bankrupt. Edited by John Carnell. Stories by Michael Moorcock, J.G. Ballard, Theodore Cogswell.
