Picture Play Magazine, originally titled Picture-Play Weekly was an American weekly published magazine centered around the movie industry during the golden-age of Hollywood. It was one of the earliest published tabloid style magazines that focused on celebrity gossip, but also included behind-the-scenes content, and movie reviews. It was first published on April 10, 1915, and ultimately transitioned from a weekly to a monthly publication before the end of it's production run in late 1941 after merging with Charm Magazine. 8.5" x 11.5", 82 pages, B&W.     The most prominent comic strip stars Superman, who appears fully in costume in the last panel. Of course, other strips also feature very notable Americana icons - Little Orphan Annie, Joe Palooka, Thimble Theater starring Popeye. Single page from newspaper, b&w, measures 16 1/2" x 22" unfolded.
