Included are the strips the US military censored, Milton Caniff himself talking about the times and the reasons MALE CALL was created, and a special Foreword by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Bill Mauldin, creator of UP FRONT with Willie and Joe. DC Comics Raffle Giveaway Prize Edition
1st printing. Collects Man of Steel (1986) 1-6.
Written by John Byrne. Art by John Byrne and Dick Giordano.
Published after Crisis on Infinite Earths, John Byrne's The Man of Steel mini-series updated the saga of Superman for modern audiences. His origin was altered, as were many other aspects of the character. Superman's relations with Lois Lane, Lex Luthor, and Batman are reexamined and tweaked.
This issue does not feature a cover gallery and introduction by legendary author Ray Bradbury as the regular, book store and comic shop trade paperbacks do. It does, however, include the covers on each comic as they were originally published and sold.
Softcover, 144 pages, full color.
Note: May or may NOT include certificate.
NOTE: This edition has a different cover than the DC Comics edition. This is not a second printing.
This edition was very limited, as it was given away to winners and their retailers who participated in a contest. Letters were sent with each copy. Each winner and the comic shop from which they bought their comics received a copy after the winner's name was drawn.
