The early covers made use of the Kilroy Was Here joke meme from World War II. Natch paints the porch just before Mr. Kilroys boss arrives for an ill-timed visit; Solid Jackson tries to get Frank Sinatra to appear at the school dance; Natch and Wilbur compete to get Judy a giant box of candy for Valentines Day.
