Mansmann's Department Story Giveaway. This promotional activity book was presumably a giveaway from their TOYLAND toy department. Filled with Christmas themed dot-to-dot, puzzles, mazes, stories (including the text of "The Night Before Christmas"), games, and more. 7.75-in. x 10.75-in.; color; 16 pages; color; no date (late 1940s?).

This 15 page, all in color giveaway was for the kids whose parents shopped at S.S. Kresge Co. Join Katy and Ken as they visit Kresge's department store with the magical Mister Wish, an elf who shows the kids presents to get for their friends. Throughout the story Mister Wish also has fun games, puzzles, riddles, and magic tricks for the reader. Cameo appearance by Santa Claus.

Santa Claus and the Magic Bears is a promotional comic published by Promotional Publishing. No publication or copyright, but appears to be late 1940's or early 1950s. Standard comic book dimensions, full color, 16-pages, all newsprint. The main characters in this promotional comic, two magic bears named Koko and Kola, also appeared in their own comic, Koko and Kola #1-6 (1946-1950). The story: Koko and Kola visit a little boy named Raymond on Christmas Eve. They are tired of waiting for Santa Claus, so they decide to go see him. Along the way, they ski across the Milky Way! When they arrive at the North Pole, they find that wicked Sir Frostbite has kidnapped Donder, Santa's lead reindeer. Can Koko, Kola, and Raymond rescue Donder in time for Santa to deliver toys to all the children in the world on Christmas Eve? What do you think?

The other 364, he moonlights as Nick Santana, a down-on-his-luck detective, trying to make his way in the lonely city. Instead of his red and white suit, Nick sports a trenchcoat and fedora. Instead of the North Pole, Nick works dark corners and rain-slicked streets filled with gangster, guns, and, of course, femme fatales. 'Cuz no one knows better than Santa Claus that the nicer they look, the naughtier they can be! Softcover, 80 pages, full color. Cover price $14.99.

Coca-Cola had sold in the bottle for a nickel for 70 years but bottlers in the late 1940s had to start charging ten to twenty cents more per case and this eventually forced the company to raise the price. By 1951 the Coca Cola company stopped placing five cents on new advertising. We assume this small display to be from the early 1950s for Christmas sales. Haddon Sundblom's famous depiction of Santa Claus is used to sell a six-pack at roughly six cents a bottle. Printed in full color on cardstock, the price for a six-pack is perforated for easy removal. Measuring approximately 4 1/2-in. x 6 1/2-in.
