This issue is based on the 1965 Amicus production Dr. Who and the Daleks, a film based on the British TV series, which was then in its infancy. Canon is broken from panel one, as eccentric inventor "Dr. Who" builds his homemade time machine, the Tardis, in his back yard. Dr. Who (portrayed by Peter "Grand Moff Tarkin" Cushing in the film) is aided by his plucky grandchildren to battle the robot army of the Daleks through time.
