Cover pencils by Don Heck, inks by John Tartaglione. "In the Path of Solam!", script by Arnold Drake, pencils by Don Heck, inks by John Tartaglione; While aboard the Kree ship, Mar-Vell is in a holographic training session which is cranked up to a high level by Yon-Rogg, hoping that Mar-Vell will die during the experience; However, Mar-Vell succeeds in beating the computer; After, Mar-Vell is ordered back to Earth, where his identity is almost exposed by Carol Danvers when she spots the Kree ship returning to Earth's orbit and "Lawson's" sudden appearance in the middle of the road; Later, in his guise of Lawson, Mar-Vell meets with Dr. Norman Lundquist who is displaying his Solar Amplification Light-Cannon; Examining the device, Mar-Vell realizes that the device has the potential of creating a solar energy creature (which Mar-Vell dubs "Solam"); However, when Mar-Vell decides to try and destroy the device, Yon-Rogg strikes Mar-Vell through his wrist communicator; When the device creates a Solam creature, it goes on a rampage and gets strong as it absorbs more solar energy; Changing into Captain Marvel, Mar-Vell pools the resources of the world's most powerful computers together to come up with a solution as to how to destroy Solam.
