No more than 5,000 copies exist of this first printing, making it the smallest first printing ever in Marvel's history. All the remaining copies were destroyed by the printer on instructions from Marvel when it was discovered that Elektra was more underclothed than usual (pages 25-28). The second printing, which was distributed to comic stores nationwide, was retouched to render Elektra a bit more modest, but contrary to a report in Wizard Magazine (#123, page 124), no word balloons were added to aid Elektra in her new quest for modesty. Wizard reports only 2,000-3,000 copies survived the shredder, but mycomicshop.com believes the number could be 5,000--still a mighty low print run. If you are looking to add a rare Marvel comic to your collection, this book is for you... but if you order it because you misplaced your Playboy collection, you'll be sorely disappointed. Contrary to the lurid reports in Wizard and elsewhere, the Elektra first printing with a bare Elektra is pretty tame stuff. Cover by Greg Horn, story by Brian Michael Bendis and art by Chuck Austen. On a mission of assassination in Iraq, Elektra receives a shocking offer from the terrorist organization known as Hydra! But it's S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Stanley Dreyfuss who'll have to sort out the players in this deadly game of espionage -- that is, if enough of them are left alive! Cover price $2.99.

Cover by Lewis LaRosa and Laura Martin. Back cover by Matt Kindt. Seventy-seven years ago, the United States unlocked the key to defeating the Axis powers, but, in their desperation to end the war, created a far more powerful threat: ENIAC (Electronic Numerator Integrator and Computer), the worlds first supercomputer. ENIAC's calculations proved vital to turning the tide against Germany and Japan – until it ordered the second atomic bomb to be dropped on Nagasaki without any human order or approval. America had inadvertently created the first artificial intelligence without ever realizing the full extent of its abilities...or its ambitions. For the more than 50 years that followed, ENIAC manipulated global affairs from the shadows, waging a cold war that pitted spy against spy, nation against nation...until it went dark and disappeared from view. Now, years later, an encrypted countdown has just been detected in Earth's satellite network and mankind only has three days left before ENIAC executes its endgame. With few options and even less time, the Secretary of Defense has just given two covert operatives the most important mission in human history: kill ENIAC…before it kills us. 36 pages, PC/PB&W. Cover price $3.99.

Published Mar 1993 by DC/Vertigo.Enigma (1993 Vertigo) 1 CGC 9.6
Paper: White
Label #4445371002
Starts Sep 23 Art imitates life; sometimes, life imitates art. Under rare and ominous conditions, the two become inextricably wound into each other, a snake eating its own tail. In ENIGMA, it's even stranger than that - comic art comes to life. Enigma is an existential super-hero, an extraordinary man in a less than extraordinary world. Enigma is a character from Michael Smith's favorite comic book. Michael has left behind his old world - home, job, girlfriend - to find the Enigma, and to find the world within himself. It is a strange, terrifying, exhilarating journey of self-discovery, one that may well be Michael Smith's last chance to find meaning in a seemingly meaningless world. Written by Peter Milligan, with art by Duncan Fegredo and full-process color by Sherilyn van Valkenburgh. Painted cover by Fegredo with an added fifth metallic color. Suggested for Mature Readers. Deluxe Format. Cover price $2.50.
