Volume 1 - 1st printing. Written by Yongtaek Chae. Art and cover by Garam Han. It is the near future, and student violence in schools is out of control. In a questionnaire survey for teachers, 98.6% say it is far more challenging to teach students than in the past, and 85.8% say it is not only more challenging but now dangerous. Eventually, due to out of control youth violence, a teacher is murdered, and the news goes everywhere. As a result, public opinion calling for rapid changes to juvenile law boils over in all parts of the country. The Ministry of Education and the National Assembly, feeling the seriousness of the collapse of the teaching authority, take the news very seriously and revise the Teaching Rights Protection Act to create a single supervisory body. The name of the supervisory body is the Office of the Protection of Educational Rights. Hwajin Na becomes a supervisor of the Educational Rights Protection Bureau and is sent to a school where the collapse of authority is severe. His teaching techniques are violent for someone who works in the Ministry of Education. That being said, when punishments don't seem to work on even the worst of school bullies, there is no better man for the job. Sometimes you can't get a good education until those bullies are taught a lesson... Collecting the hugely popular Webtoon in print for the first time! Softcover, 6-in. x 8-in., 250 pages, full color. Deep into the twenty-first century, the line between man and machine has been inexorably blurred as humans rely on the enhancement of mechanical implants and robots are upgraded with human tissue. In this rapidly converging technoscape, the covert-ops agents of Section 9 are charged to track and crack the most dangerous terrorists, cybercriminals, and ghost hackers. And speaking of ghosts, when supposedly dead people start turning up walking and talking, Section 9 begins to look into the possibility that corpses are being 'puppeted' from a remote location, and some serious powerbrokers may be pulling the strings. Ghost in the Shell 1.5: Human-Error Processor presents for the first time in America the 'lost' Ghost in the Shell stories, created by Shirow Masamune after completing work on the original Ghost in the Shell manga and prior to his tour-de-force, Ghost in the Shell 2: Man-Machine Interface, but never collected until now. Focusing on Section 9 agents in their daily battle against technocrime, Human-Error Processor has all the mind-twisting cybermadness you've come to expect from Ghost in the Shell but set in a more police-procedural context with action and suspense galore. This first issue features part one of 'Fat Cat,' the first of four Ghost in the Shell tales. ? Shirow and Ghost in the Shell are well-known and critically acclaimed internationally, with movies, television, and novels inspired by the groundbreaking manga. ? These stories have long been in demand by Shirow fans, but have only seen print in the stories' original serializations, and have not been available for over a decade. ? This is the first English-language Shirow series that will be produced in the authentic right-to-left reading format, as originally published in Japan. Cover price $2.99.

Supervised by the creator, this will be the definitive edition of The Ghost in the Shell. Released simultaneously with new deluxe editions of the other two books in the original series.

The long-awaited sequel to Shirow Masamune's groundbreaking The Ghost in the Shell, and one of the most highly anticipated graphic novel events in many years, Man-Machine Interface is Shirow's most ambitious and complex story yet, with deep forays into philosophy and the meaning of artificial life, intelligence, and existence. Utilizing awe-inspiring digital effects on a level never before seen in the annals of graphic fiction, Shirow has raised the bar for what can be achieved, page after page!

Tokyo: Following World Wars III and IV a Japanese-led Asian block dominates the world. A key element in the maintenance of the block's position is the elite Japanese security police, the SHELL task force. To give them an edge in their ruthless battles against terrorist groups, most of the force have had extensive cybernetic transplants that have left them only questionably human. This is an exciting and skillful work that realistically probes uses of artificial intelligence and "direct interfacing" with machines, and which questions where mankind's technological and medical progress will lead.
