Written by Edgar Rice Burroughs, first collected edition of Mastermind of Mars and A Fighting Man of Mars, part of the famed six-book matching set of Martian novels issued by the Science Fiction Book Club. Cover by Frank Frazetta. Six interior full page illustrations by Frazetta. In Mastermind of Mars, Ulysses Paxton takes center stage and when transported to Mars becomes involved with Ras Thavas, a deranged, fanatical scientist who is financing his experiments by transplanting brains for wealthy Martians. A Fighting Man of Mars tells the story of one of John Carter's finest warriors and his mission to return a missing princess to her throne. Frazetta's work for this series is justly acknowledged as among his most iconic; he was clearly inspired. Hardcover with dust jacket, 5 3/4-in. x 8 1/2-in., 346 pages, B&W.
