The comic-strip adventures of city boy Slats, his small-town sweetheart Becky, and Becky's reprobate father "Bathless Groggins," with exceptionally nice art by Raeburn Van Buren. Becky believes Slats has been killed when the merchant steamer he signed onto is sunk. But he's actually been shanghaied onto the ship called the Black Cat, far out at sea.
