Stories and art by Alvin Hollingsworth, Rudy Palais and Roy Ald. Negro Romance is one of the first comics created by African-American artists, for an African-American readership. The series gained fame in modern times (as seen on PBS's History Detectives) as one of the few 1950s comics to portray Black characters in a non-stereotypical, realistic manner. Numbering continues from Negro Romance (1950 Fawcett) #3. College student Lloyd falls for Gloria and brings her into the family beauty business, but her insecure jealousy threatens their relationship. Edith doesn't tell fiance Don that she has a terminal condition, but her increasingly wild behavior signals him that something is wrong. Chorus girl Sara dates customer Bruce at the urging of her boss, but she didn't expect to fall in love, or that her boss had sinister motives. Possessed; Forever Yours; Come Home, My Heart; Love's Decoy. Final issue under this title; series continues (without the ethnic angle) as Romantic Secrets (1953 Charlton) #5. 32 pages, Full Color. Cover price $0.10.
