The Union Jack was a "penny dreadful" type of UK publication that ran from 1894 to 1933. In 1904, Sexton Blake, "the poor man's Sherlock Holmes," became the star of every issue. In this issue, Blake battles the Confederation in "The Shadow." While not the Conde Nast "Shadow," Shadow completists may still be interested in this early use of the name.
