Volume 5 -1st printing. Story and art by Hiroya Oku. Strange bird aliens inside the bodies of 1970s pop stars. Memories of dead aliens who stunk of onions. Suicidal girls with massive boobs. A friend who idolizes him, yet beats up the biggest bullies and gets the girl. Life is complicated for Kei Kurono. So far, he's had to deal with sleeping next to a sad but excessively cute and endowed girl who asked to be his "pet"; the fact that he's apparently really a fax copy of himself-the real version having died in the first volume and falling out of the sky after being dropped by some sort of alien eagle. Hiroya Oku created a crazy-popular manga and anime with Gantz, and Dark Horse Comics is more than happy to bring you what might be Japan's weirdest and sexiest sci-fi series ever. Softcover, 5 1/2-in. x 7-in., 228 pages, B&W. Mature Readers NOTE: These are Japanese manga-style GNs and are meant to be read right-to-left. "Drawn with eye-popping realism, Oku's scenes range from infanticide to bestiality to painful adolescent awkwardness, raising standard geek fare to a new level of sophistication." - Entertainment Weekly Cover price $12.95.

Volume 6 -1st printing. Story and art by Hiroya Oku. Life is complicated for Kei Kurono, possibly the horniest teen in Tokyo. So far he's had to deal with sleeping next to a sad but excessively cute and endowed girl who asked to be his "pet"; the fact that he's apparently really a fax copy of himself -- the real version having died in the first volume; and falling out of the sky after being dropped by some sort of alien eagle. Volume 7 -1st printing. Story and art by Hiroya Oku. The life-or is that death?-of Kei Kurono has been completely unpredictable ever since he was transported into an inescapable condo and thrown into a high-stakes game of hunting aliens. Turns out inhabiting a carbon copy of his body after the original was splattered all over a subway only increases the adolescent problems of identity, insecurity, and horniness. Add in the constant danger of facing pissed-off aliens; the awkwardness of being reunited with a childhood friend who cries a lot; and the involuntarily chaste relationship he shares with the prettiest and best-endowed woman he's ever known; and Kei's stress level isn't dropping any time soon. Softcover, 5 1/2-in. x 7-in., 224 pages, B&W. Mature Readers NOTE: These are Japanese manga-style GNs and are meant to be read right-to-left. Cover price $12.95.

Volume 8 -1st printing. Story and art by Hiroya Oku. Without giving anything away, suffice it to say that this might be the watershed volume of Gantz. It's the end of the great Buddha battle, and it doesn't seem to be going well. In fact, it would be amazing if anyone returned to the locked apartment overlooking Tokyo tower. It's really been the worst fight yet. But there's got to be a gleam of hope somewhere. Also in this story, we meet a few more interesting characters outside of Gantz's hunting party, and it only adds more mystery to the mix. Softcover, 5 1/2-in. x 7-in., 224 pages, B&W. Mature Readers NOTE: These are Japanese manga-style GNs and are meant to be read right-to-left. Cover price $12.95.

Volume 9 - 1st printing. Story and art by Hiroya Oku. Sometimes big things come in small packages. And our Gantz hero, Kei, might want to consider that in this volume of the frantic and weird, angsty and sexy manga by Hiroya Oku. Softcover, 5 1/2-in. x 7-in., 232 pages, B&W. Mature Readers NOTE: These are Japanese manga-style GNs and are meant to be read right-to-left. Cover price $12.95.

Volume 10 - 1st printing. Story and art by Hiroya Oku. Plots are starting to twist in the Gantz storyline! Has Kato disappeared forever? Who is this cute girl Kei's falling in love with? Does someone on the Internet know the secret of Gantz? And who is this huge fighter roaming the streets of Japan looking for the greatest fighting challenge? Well, the challenge he's looking for might come from the least likely of physical specimens. So far, the story of Gantz knows few bounds when it comes to plot twists and a constantly changing cast. When it's kill or be killed against a universe full of odd and resilient aliens, a lot of characters get killed off quickly. So far the most constant, and consistently evolving, character is Kei, a classic antihero. The question begins to set in . . . if Kei succeeds in fulfilling his contract with Gantz, will he be willing to give up these superhuman powers he's begun to take for granted? Gantz has proven to be one of the most popular adult anime in recent years, with over 190,000 copies sold in the U.S. alone! Softcover, 5 1/2-in. x 7-in., 224 pages, B&W. Mature Readers NOTE: These are Japanese manga-style GNs and are meant to be read right-to-left. Cover price $12.99.

Volume 12 - 1st printing. Story and art by Hiroya Oku. Dinosaurs, terrorism, and blood-Gantz doesn't let up one bit as it climbs into its second "season" of cryptic, frenetic, sexy, and violent storytelling. This time, there's a guy who's a fanatic about the Gantz phenomenon, to the point where he tries to get himself inserted into the alien-hunting game. The question is: will he succeed? The only way to be part of the Gantz universe is to die first. How far is one man willing to go in order to join Kei in pursuit of this temporary role as a universal god-cop? And once you're there, how do you kill all those dinosaurs? Confusing? The answers are in Gantz Volume 12. Softcover, 5 1/2-in. x 7-in., 224 pages, B&W. Volume 13 - 1st printing. Story and art by Hiroya Oku. Dinosaurs. Seriously, can the frantic world of Gantz get any more scary? How about a giant doughboy with crazy fangs and a strange outie bellybutton? Yeah, it's not just scary; it's a very strange world for Kei!. At least this time the Gantz crew have a new weapon! It's an awesome state-of-the-art uni-motorcycle thing! And one of the characters uses a massive space samurai sword. It's Gantz! Gantz has been adapted into a successful anime animated by the popular Gonzo Studio. Gantz has proven to be one of the most popular adult anime in recent years, with over 190,000 copies sold in the U.S. alone! Softcover, 5 1/2-in. x 7-in., 232 pages, B&W. Volume 14 - 1st printing. Story and art by Hiroya Oku. A gang of vampire guys . . . who can grow samurai swords from their very flesh! Once again, Hiroya Oku is pushing the envelope with his crazy manga Gantz! And to add to it, these vampire yakuza guys might not even be aliens! This isn't a mission. These guys seem to know who is working for Gantz, and are coming after them. On the streets where they work and live. In the daylight. All of a sudden the wall between everyday humanity and Gantz's nighttime, extradimensional hunts is crumbling. What will Kei and the others do? Can they regenerate when they're injured outside of a mission? Find out! Softcover, 5 1/2-in. x 7-in., 224 pages, B&W. Volume 15 - 1st printing. Story and art by Hiroya Oku. Gantz is getting absolutely intense! Our protagonist, the eternally awkward otaku boy named Kei, has hunted a bevy of odd and dangerous aliens living in Japan. The Onion Alien was strange enough, but then there were the dinosaur aliens and eventually some vampires who might not be aliens at all. Gantz moves along at a furious pace, drowning readers in blood and violence, but then holds back for a few tender (and sometimes excessively sexy) moments here and there. It's a crazy ride so far, a guilty pleasure for many readers. See whom Kei is told to hunt next! It will certainly be a surprise. Softcover, 5 1/2-in. x 7-in., 224 pages, B&W. Mature Readers NOTE: These are Japanese manga-style GNs and are meant to be read right-to-left. Cover price $12.99.

Volume 16 - 1st printing. Story and art by Hiroya Oku. It's hard to tell who the heroes and villains are in Gantz these days. Some members of the alien-hunting team are trying to kill protagonist Kei's girlfriend, and it's possible he might not be able to stop them! Plus, Kei finds out about a very powerful secret related to his achieving the one-hundred-point goal. A popular series across many mediums in Japan, Gantz began and continues as a best-selling manga, and it's just getting hotter overseas. A live-action film is due out in 2011, and we here at Dark Horse expect the Gantz craze to continue its rise in popularity. A successful and wildly popular anime by Gonzo studio. New live-action film slated to debut in Japan in 2011. Softcover, 5 1/2-in. x 7-in., 224 pages, B&W. Mature Readers NOTE: These are Japanese manga-style GNs and are meant to be read right-to-left. Volume 17 - 1st printing. Story and art by Hiroya Oku. It seems like every new alien creature the Gantz gang fights is just practice for another, tougher, more demented future alien battle. Every new alien means another crew of newly dead citizens, reborn as alien hunters. Except for those who survive for the next battle. And Kei is the only one who's survived since volume 1. Our immature antihero keeps adding new dimensions to his character, and this volume doesn't spare him a learning experience. Imagine aliens who can transform into anything, including giant flies, elephants, or spitting images of your compatriots. Suffice it to say, this volume begins a scary new chapter in the Gantz story line. Softcover, 5 1/2-in. x 7-in., 224 pages, B&W. Mature Readers NOTE: These are Japanese manga-style GNs and are meant to be read right-to-left. Cover price $12.99.

Volume 18 - 1st printing. Story and art by Hiroya Oku. The crazy world of Gantz just got a heck of a lot crazier. First, there were people being recruited at the moment of death to fight aliens living on earth, but unseen by humanity. The battles have seemed to take place outside of human sight. Our reluctant hero, Kei, has lived through many of these battles, but now something strange is happening. People can see the Gantz warriors. This ragtag collection of street punks, fighters, and schoolkids are suddenly exposed to the world, along with the freakish aliens they fight. Will the civilians believe what they see, or are their lives so full of media that they think it's just fantastic 3-D entertainment? Softcover, 5 1/2-in. x 7-in., 224 pages, B&W. Mature Readers NOTE: These are Japanese manga-style GNs and are meant to be read right-to-left. Cover price $12.99.
