  • Issue #2
Heart of Darkness (1987 Silver Wolf) 2

Tim Vigil cover and seven page story. Some of his earliest work. Note: Heart of Darkness #2 is actually the 2nd issue of Fantastic Fables, as per the following explanation: Fantastic Fables #2 does not appear on the cover of issue #2 (but the title "Heart of Darkness" DOES). This odd circumstance came about due to the way in which the cover for that issue was done. Originally, artist Tim Vigil intended to publish the cover story as it's own book titled "Heart of Darkness" (the main character's name is "Cuda") and he drew that title/logo directly into the cover art. Silverwolf decided to use Vigil's original cover as the cover for Fantastic Fables #2 and, for whatever reason, could not place the actual title on the cover without harming Vigil's cover art. Fantastic Fables #2 was never actually distributed, either. Publisher Kris Silver never paid the printers and so they halted printing. Only a very few copies made it into the comic market. Clarification provided by Tony Castleberry. Cover price $1.50.
