Stories by Romer Grey and Stephen Slesinger. Art by Allen Dean. Pioneering comics publisher David McKay's Feature Book was the first US comic book to devote complete issues to a single character. This issue (technically the third, but the first numbered) reprinted King of the Royal Mounted comic strips from 1936. Canadian Mountie Dave King was based on a character created by Western novelist Zane Grey. Yukon outlaws set fire to King's cabin to distract him while they ambush a dogsled team, killing the men escorting a gold shipment. 9-in. x 12-in., 52 pages, B&W. Cover price $0.10.
