"Trap for a Terrorist!" Script by Stan Lee. Pencils by John Romita. Inks by Sal Buscema. Cover by John Romita and Sal Buscema. As a favor to the Daily Bugle's freelance photographer, Joe Robertson sends Peter Parker to England for a special assignment (and also to visit Gwen Stacy.) Aunt May's nephew is overjoyed about his business trip and quickly hops on an airplane bound for London. However also on the flight is a high-ranking American diplomat -- who is abducted by terrorists once the place lands at Heathrow Airport! Fortunately, Peter brought his familiar red and blue suit across the pond! And the Amazing Spider-Man swings into action from the Tower Bridge to the Big Ben Clock -- to save the American delegate! But will the web-slinger's much-publicized appearance in London derail Peter's plan to visit Gwen? Cameo appearances by J. Jonah Jameson, Aunt May, Anna Watson, Mary Jane Watson, Harry Osborn, Arthur Stacy, and Nancy Stacy. (Notes: This story was reprinted in Marvel Tales #76. Not approved by the Comics Code Authority (see notes). "And Now, the Goblin!" Part 1 of 3. Script by Stan Lee. Pencils by Gil Kane. Inks by John Romita. Cover by Gil Kane. With Gwen Stacy still in London, Peter Parker gains a new admirer: Mary Jane Watson. Oh boy. How will Mary Jane's sudden interest in Peter affect Harry Osborn? Unfortunately, the short answer is not well. Since Harry is secretly battling a drug addiction. Nevertheless, when Mary Jane makes her off-Broadway debut at a local theater; Peter and Harry attend the show to support her. Interestingly, Norman Osborn also attends the musical. In part because he used to own the building that now houses the theater. During the show Norman fixates on a certain door -- possibly a storage room door -- just off the main hallway. And Peter notices it too. After the show the web-slinger returns to the theater...and discovers his worst nightmare in the flesh: the Green Goblin! Wow! Cameo appearances by Joe Robertson and Randy Robertson. (Notes: This three-part story was not approved by the CCA due to the (anti) drug-themed story. At this time the code did not permit drugs to be mentioned in any fashion. However Stan Lee published the story anyway, and it led to major revisions in the code -- allowing anti-drug stories and horror stories including ones about vampires. The Green Goblin previously appeared in the Spectacular Spider-Man Magazine (1966) #2. Marie Severin provided the layout for the cover. This issue was reprinted in Marvel Tales #77.) 32 pages. Direct Edition. "The Hobgoblin Revealed!" Death of Ned Leeds (aka the Hobgoblin). Script by Peter David. Pencils by Alan Kupperberg and Tom Palmer. Inks by Jim Fern. Cover by Tom Morgan and Tom Palmer. Story continues from the Spider-Man vs. Wolverine (1987) one-shot. Finally! The mystery that began over 50 issues ago is at last revealed! Who is the Hobgoblin? Jonah, Peter, Betty, and Robbie are in shock...and completely oblivious to what really happened to Ned overseas. But the Kingpin knows what took place! He's furious that the Foreigner and Jack O'Lantern (aka Jason Macendale) made the hit without his approval! To retaliate against Macendale (aka the new Hobgoblin), the Kingpin tells the web-slinger where to find him! And in very short order a new era of Spider-Man vs. Hobgoblin battles begins! Cameo appearances by the Rose, Black Cat, and Flash Thompson. Flashback cameo by Wolverine. (Notes: The story in Web of Spider-Man 29 occurs during this issue. Ned Leeds first appeared way back in Amazing Spider-Man 18. The web-slinger settles the score with the Foreigner in Spectacular Spider-Man 129.
