Volume 1 - 1st printing. Collects Mighty Samson (1964-1976 Gold Key) #1-6. Written by Otto Binder. Art by Frank Thorne and Jack Sparling. In a radioactive, nuclear-ravaged future, Samson is born into a tribe of peaceful yet desperate people struggling to survive in the desolate city of N'Yark. Surrounded by hungry, wild creatures-creatively mutated and brought to life by Thorne and subsequent artists-and the more savage, selfish remnants of humanity, life is precarious at best for the tribe until Samson displays amazing powers. Discovering that young Samson is a mutant himself, his mother trains Samson to value life, and on her deathbed Samson vows "to protect the weak from the powerful, the good from the evil!" This volume collects the first six comic books from the original 1960s Mighty Samson series, with playful and imaginative artwork by Frank Thorne seen in the first five issues! Hardcover, 200 pages, full color. Cover price $49.99.

Volume 4 - 1st printing. Written by EIJI OTSUKA. Art by SHO-U TAJIMA. Feeling the weight of personal and professional rejection, stylish one-eyed reporter Toguchi embraces his dark side. The horrors he's both documented and participated in haunt him also, and a "perfect storm" of frustration and anger builds until he resolves to pull off a violent "performance art show" in order to get the widespread attention he feels he deserves. Unfortunately, this involves killing a lot of people, transforming the happy-go-lucky guerrilla journalist into a modern monster. Crazed Toguchi also makes some sensitive information public, enraging Zenitsu, another unbalanced villain with a knack for murder and a resistance to pain. Kazuhiko Amamiya arrives at the scene a little too late, but Amamiya-our favorite multiple personality detective-feels that there's some hope yet, and he risks his life to negotiate with Toguchi. Softcover, 5-in. x 7-in., 192 pages, B&W. Mature Readers NOTE: These are Japanese manga-style GNs and are meant to be read right-to-left. Cover price $10.95.
