WRITTEN BY DAN JOLLEY, TONY HARRIS AND RAY SNYDER; ART BY HARRIS AND SNYDER; PAINTED COVER BY HARRIS ELSEWORLDS. In stores December 8. World War II is the setting for an atmospheric miniseries starring heroes very much like Batman, Superman and the Golden Age Justice Society of America. In 1942, as war rages around the globe, a vicious albino smuggler intercepts a parcel intended for the Axis powers, a parcel whose contents could change the outcome of the war. The always grinning ne'er-do-well plans to sell the item to the highest bidder, but the Allies have other plans, and send their top covert agents to claim the mysterious package. Now "Owl," "Clock," "Bat" and a host of other very familiar costumed characters battle for the safety of an Elseworld in JSA: THE LIBERTY FILES, a 2-issue Prestige miniseries by the Doctor Strange: Servant of Bones team of co-writer Dan Jolley and co-writers/artists Tony Harris and Ray Snyder. In addition to interior pencils, Harris also provides stirring painted covers for both issues of THE LIBERTY FILES, and even STARMAN readers familiar with his intepretations of classic Golden Age characters will be surprised at how well he integrates the JSA, Batman, Robin, and others into unexpected settings, facing Egyptian thugs, Nazi troops and undead assassins, among them a deadly monster known as the Scarecrow. As the fate of the world hangs in the balance, heroes change allegiances, fall prey to horrible fates, and stand together in the face of a threat no one could have anticipated: an alien super-man who serves the Nazi cause. FC, 64 PG. (1 OF 2) PRESTIGE FORMAT" Cover price $6.95.

By Ted Nomura. AP Core Title! "Pikadon"?In real history, the two American A-bombs were an instrumental tool in ending the war, giving the Japanese government the excuse they needed to secretly conclude the Pacific war before the Soviets had a chance to invade Japan. In this new series, based on the popular Luftwaffe/WWII: 1946 titles created by Ted Nomura, the new front focuses on the Japanese war to defend itself against an all-out Allied invasion, so big that it would dwarf the D-Day invasion of Europe a year earlier. In this alternate history, Oppenheimer is killed in a freak car accident in Germany before the war, and with the American atomic program delayed, the Japanese succeed in creating their own A-bomb to use as a new Kamikaze tactic. Bimonthly. FC, 24pgs. Cover price $2.95.

By Ted Nomura. AP Core Title! "Queens of the Seas": In 1945, the United States Navy suffered its biggest crisis of survival due to the intense Japanese Kamikaze attacks. The kamikazes' main targets were the fleet carriers, better known to most as the "Queens of the Seas." Although the U.S. Navy's submarine forces were providing a most valuable "silent service" by sinking more than 50% of the enemy ships using less than 10% of their naval strength, it was the American aircraft carriers that took the brunt of the Japanese attention due to their high visibility. Their escort ships often sacrificed themselves to draw the enemy fire away from the primary target. No chapter in history displayed such courage under fire as when enemies committing suicide to achieve their mission were so alien to the men who faced them. In this alternate-1946 history, the invasion of Japan placed the carriers in even more danger. Three new armored-deck Midway-class carriers can only slow down the steel-plated rain of blood and guts. Bi-monthly. b&w, 24pgs. Cover price $2.95.

By Ted Nomura. In this alternate World War II that extended to 1946, a series of unexpected changes of events has forced the Americans to invade Japan as originally planned, starting with "Operation Olympic" in November 1945. With the battle for Kyushu racking up heavy casualties, the Americans are forced to execute "Operation Coronet," the invasion of the Kanto Plain on the main island of Honshu, in March 1946, as planned. But with Germany still at war in this alternate history, additional aid from Hitler's forces in Japan to divert the Allied effort in Europe causes more difficulties in Allied logistics in the Pacific, and it's a battle to the death heading for a march toward Tokyo. Bimonthly. b&w, 24pgs. Cover price $2.95.
