View scans1st printing, 1935. Three color pop-ups entitled "The Ape Man Swings Through the Trees," "Tarzan and Ula" and "Tarzan Attacks the Crocodile." All three pop-ups are dynamic, well constructed and in vivid full color across two pages each. The three pop-ups are drawn by Stephen Slesinger. The pop-up featuring the crocodile is especially terrific: Tarzan is astride the crocodile's head holding a knife and moving the book opens and closes the mouth of the crocodile. The main story is illustrated in black and white by Slesinger, who provides two illustrations per page. A charming production, very well done.
