Stan Lee: How Marvel Changed the World is not just another biography. It is a journey through twentieth century American history, seen through the life of a man who personified the American Dream. Stan Lee's life reflects the evolution of American entertainment, society, and popular culture throughout the 20th-century and beyond. Was Stan Lee himself a superhuman creation, just a mask to protect his true, more complicated secret identity?
Just like the vibrant panels of the comics he wrote, Lee's life, it seems, is never black and white.

Written by Roy Thomas and Stan Lee.
This is the big one, True Believers! The mostly true tale of Stan Lee: a Giant-Size extravaganza, nearly ten years in the making, about the one and only Godfather of Comics.
From his childhood in Depression-era New York, to transforming Marvel into the number one comics publisher in the world, to his 21st-century reinvention as Chief Creative Officer of global entertainment company POW! Entertainment, Stan "the Man" Lee stands the test of time as the most legendary name in comicbook history. His tale is told by his successor at Marvel, renowned comics writer, editor, and historian Roy Thomas, who brings "you are there" insights and wide-eyed clarity to key moments of Lee's journey to pop culture immortality.
Featuring hundreds of treasures of comic book art, intimate photographs sourced straight from his family archives, a foreword written by Lee himself, a novel-length essay and new epilogue by Thomas, and an appendix with complete reprints of Stan's comics from throughout the decades, this is a titanic tribute worthy of the Man.
Hardcover, 12-in. x 17-in., 604 pages, full color.

1st printing. By Bob Batchelor. The Amazing Spider-Man. The Incredible Hulk. The Invincible Iron Man. These are just a few of the iconic superheroes to emerge from the mind of Stan Lee. From the mean streets of Depression-era New York City to recipient of the National Medal of Arts, Lee's life has been almost as remarkable as the thrilling adventures he spun for decades. In Stan Lee: The Man behind Marvel, Bob Batchelor offers an eye-opening look at this iconic writer, a man who created (with talented artists) many of history's most remarkable characters. Batchelor explores how Lee capitalized on natural talent and hard work to become the editor of Marvel Comics as a teenager. After toiling in the industry for decades, Lee threw caution to the wind and went for broke, co-creating the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, Hulk, Iron Man, the X-Men, the Avengers, and others in a creative flurry that revolutionized comic books for generations of readers. Batchelor reveals the risks Lee took to bring the characters to life and Lee's tireless efforts to make comic books and superheroes part of mainstream culture for more than fifty years. Candid, authoritative, and absorbing, this is a biography of a man who dreamed of one day writing the Great American Novel, but ended up doing so much more - changing American culture. Hardcover, 6-in. x 9-in., 256 pages, Text. Cover price $22.95.

1st printing. By Hayao Miyazaki. In the first two decades of his career, filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki laid the groundwork for his legendary movies. Starting Point is a collection of essays, interviews, and memoirs that go back to the roots of Miyazaki's childhood, the formulation of his theories of animation, and the founding of Studio Ghibli. Before directing such acclaimed films as Spirited Away, Miyazaki was just another salaried animator, but with a vision of his own. Follow him as he takes his first steps on the road to success, experience his frustrations with the manga and animation industries that often suffocate creativity, and realize the importance of bringing the childhood dreams of the world to life. Starting Point: 1979-1996 is not just a chronicle of the life of a man whose own dreams have come true, it is a tribute to the power of the moving image. Softcover, 6-in. x 9-in., 500 pages, B&W.
