"On Death and Dying..." Part 1 of 3. Guest-starring Spider-Man. Script by J.M. DeMatteis. Art by Don Perlin (breakdowns), Mike Esposito (finishes), Sal Trapani (finishes), Al Milgrom (finishes), and Chic Stone (finishes). Cover by Al Milgrom. The Defenders have stopped August Masters' plan to start WWIII, but at a very high price. Nighthawk apparently died in the blast that destroyed the complex, and Valkyrie was killed right after the Defenders escaped from the complex. So now the downtrodden heroes return to New York and mourn their friends. A while later the Defenders hold a memorial service for the departed Nighthawk and Valkyrie -- and many of their friends and teammates attend. However Hellcat does not. And while Patsy writes in her diary...she's visited by an apparition of Valkyrie! Is Brunnhilde possibly alive? To investigate the matter further, Dr. Strange and Daimon Hellstrom hold a séance -- which reveals the Asgardian villain behind Valkyrie's plight! Appearances by Captain America, Daredevil, Gargoyle, Hawkeye, Hulk, Luke Cage, Silver Surfer, Sub-Mariner, Thor, Vera Cantor, Karnilla, and the Enchantress. (Note: Nighthawk returns years later in the Nighthawk (1998) limited series.) 32 pages. Cover price $0.60.

Art by Don Perlin (breakdowns), Joe Sinnott (finishes), Sal Trapani (finishes), Hilary Barta (finishes), and Al Milgrom (finishes). Cover by Don Perlin and Al Milgrom. The Enchantress interrupts the Defenders' séance and grabs the dragonfang sword! The Asgardian sorceress swiftly traps Brunnhilde's soul inside dragonfang! And unless the Defenders do her bidding, she will banish dragonfang -- and thus the Valkyrie's soul -- forever! But doing the work of the Enchantress is very risky business. And acquiring the Rose of Purity for her (in exchange for Brunnhilde's soul) could be a big mistake! The Defenders have a very difficult decision to make! Cameo appearances by Vera Cantor and the Valkyrie. Defenders Lineup: Beast, Dr. Strange, Gargoyle, Hellcat, Hellstorm, Hulk, and the Sub-Mariner. (Notes: Mark Gruenwald is credited as a co-plotter of the story.) 32 pages. Cover price $0.60.

Doctor Strange, the Hulk, the Sub-Mariner, the Silver Surfer and Valkyrie!
They are the dynamic Defenders, comics' greatest "non-team," and they do not rely on bylaws and butlers. They join together in moments of utmost crisis - to face incomprehensible enemies like Dormammu, the Nameless One and the Enchantress! But when the Defenders encounter heroes of a more conventional stripe, it's war - the watershed hero vs. hero Avengers/Defenders War, no less!
This massive omnibus also sees Hawkeye, the Black Knight, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Nighthawk and Daimon Hellstrom join the Defenders in classic adventures. It's a must-have edition collecting Roy Thomas, Steve Englehart and Len Wein's complete DEFENDERS runs in one beautifully restored volume!
Hardcover, 8 1/2-in. x 11-in., 768 pages, full color. Rated T

Doctor Strange! The Hulk! Namor, the Sub-Mariner! The Silver Surfer!
An unsolvable murder. An aquatic doorway to nothingness. A wanderer at the end of time. And a cosmic train of planetary proportions.
Four seemingly unrelated events that will require the powers and insights of the greatest non-team of all. Only they can connect the dots and challenge the strange power behind these disconnected happenings before all of reality pays the price! But Doctor Strange is...dead? Namor has declared war on the surface world! The Surfer once more serves Galactus! And the Hulk is...Immortal!
Estranged and distressed, can these former allies come together in time to stave off a crisis of cosmic proportions?

Stan Lee (1922-2018)
His Universe. His Legacy. His Heroes.
"In Stan Lee: A Life of Marvel, we tell the story of Stan the Man from multiple perspectives — including classic interviews with him detailing how he and the Marvel braintrust of artists and writers created Spider-Man, The Hulk, Fantastic Four, and other heroes and villains. This collectors issue spans the Silver Age of comic books, which Lee helped define, and explores how that Big Bang is still expanding into television and movies today.
Accompanied by galleries of photos and illustrations, A Life of Marvel includes:
• Exclusive interviews with other comic book and movie greats about Stan Lees influence (and influences).
• A breakdown of his most famous characters — as well as a rundown of Lees own many pop culture cameos and appearances.
• Tributes and remembrances of fans as well as the actors that brought his characters to life, including a first-person account from Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige about the last time he met with Lee.
While one story cannot contain his entire legacy, one word can: Excelsior!" - Anthony Breznican
Softcover, 8 1/2-in. x 11-in., 80 pages, full color.
