It's an off-beat tale as the Amazing Spider-Man takes on a double menace! A crazy football player from Baytown, Texas; and the New York state healthcare system! Unbelievable! Where are Doc Ock and the Hobgoblin when you really need them? The two storylines intertwine after Red 9 and the web-slinger crash through a hospital window! As Spider-Man attempts to clean up the broken glass, he learns that the grumpy old man in the room is about to be discharged...because the state thinks he's dead! In good conscious the wall-crawler can't let that happen! If Spidey can blitz the bureaucrats and avoid Red 9's tackles, he might just create a happy ending for all! (Note: The letters page contains a statement of ownership: average print run 461,591; average paid circulation: 281,064.) 32 pages. Cover price $0.75.

RECORD ONLY, NO COMIC. Includes the record sleeve. The Amazing Spider-Man Golden Record Reprint (28-pages, full-color, standard comic format) was produced in 1966 and reprints Amazing Spider-Man #1. Although the reprint, at first glance, looks like the original, there are differences. There is no cover price on the reprint, and the back cover, as well as the inside covers, promote the Golden Record LP series of which the Amazing Spider-Man #1 is a part. The four Marvel Golden Record LPs came with a reprint comic, and each originally sold for $2.49 (record and comic together). In addition to the Amazing Spider-Man LP, there were records produced for Thor (Journey into Mystery #83), Avengers #4; and Fantastic Four #1, all with their own reprint comic. We bought these sets when they first appeared and can still remember following the story in the comic reprint while the record played and the narrator read the story to us. Just to make sure we didn't lose our place, he would say "Turn page," each time he finished the last panel on a page.
