ADOLF HITLER (1889–1945) - Adolf Hitler was the infamous ruler of fascist Germany. In his youth he aspired to be a painter but was rejected from art school. He worked as a day laborer before enlisting in the army and serving in World War I. Hitlers charismatic oratory garnered many followers and led to his appointment as chancellor. In that position, he disbanded all rival political parties and established a single-party dictatorship. He declared himself the Fuhrer, or supreme ruler, and called his reign the Third Reich. Germanys invasion of Poland instigated World War II, while domestically Hitler maintained strict control of the ideology of the citizenry, initiating the genocide of the Jewish people known as the Holocaust. Volume 1 - 1st printing. Story and art by Hiroyuki. Equal parts cute, silly, and subversive, the four-panel comedy manga Ahogaru was a surprise hit in Japan. Her rock-paper-scissors strategy is "rock." She somehow gets zeroes on multiple-choice tests. And she has an often-nearly-fatal weakness for bananas. Cute characters, weird gags, and lots and lots of bananas! Softcover, 5-in. x 7-in., 176 pages, B&W. Cover price $12.99.
