When they help the female captives escape they find that they are not their wives; The women escape, but Dan-El and Natongo are caught by the riders; Before they can be killed their wives arrive with help to rescue them. 36 pgs. $0.20. The Deadly Maze; Nyanga Imopo and two other magicians visit New Aba-Zulu to entertain Dan-El and Natongo; While there, they predict that those of royal blood are in danger, and they give Queen Tavane a poisonous flower. Simamba, the queen's maid and herb-doctoress stops her before she can be poisoned; Later, Imopo comes back and kidnaps Simamba, planning to make her his wife. Dan-El and Natongo follow them; After escaping a deadly maze in the jungle, they rescue Simamba, who turns out to be of royal blood herself. 36 pgs. $0.25. Cover price $0.20.

Tree of Mystery, script by Gaylord Du Bois, art by Dan Spiegle; Dan-El and Tavane rescue three women from a Leopard Man attack; The three women, who are really priestesses of "The Tree of Mystery", ask to drink the cup of peace with them, but they betray them by using a pill to remove their memories; Dan-El and Tavane are then taken to the Tree to take care of it and to eventually be sacrificed to it; Natongo is able to find them because his little doctoress Sihamba knows of the Tree and can lead him and his men to the general area. Along the way they save Hubo, a little boy who had been kidnapped and left as a sacrifice to the the tree; He escaped and so was able to lead them directly to the tree; They manage to kill the guardian of the tree, but Mafuta dies in the battle; The priestesses hear the death cries of the guardian and catch up to everyone at the tree. Knowing that they cannot continue to defend themselves, Sihamba uses another prophecy to help her awaken Queen Ilena and King Inkosi from suspended animation; They then allow her to return with Dan-El and Natongo to Aba-Zulu. 36 pgs. $0.20.
