Mature readers. Issues # 1-25 published by Gothic Castle Publishing Co. thru January 1962-June 1975. This series was restarted in 1999 with issue # 26 by Dennis Druktenis Publishing. A more critical (and sometimes more adult) alternative to the pun-filled Famous Monsters of Filmland, Castle of Frankenstein covered the worlds of horror, fantasy, and science fiction movies. In addition, the magazine published comic strips, articles on genre television shows, book reviews, art, and other related items. This inaugural issue has articles on Universal's Mummy series, The Time Machine, Jack the Ripper, Frankenstein 1970, The Mysterians, and The Pit and the Pendulum. Also includes: "Zacherley's Wife Contest" and "The Boris Karloff Story." Cover art by Larry Ivie. Cover price $0.35.
