Cover by Gladys Parker. Stories and art by Gladys Parker and Ed Kleis. Mopsy, one of the first female-centric comic strips, by pioneering female artist Gladys Parker, combines an Ever Meulen art style with pantomime-style gags and good-girl art. Mopsy's dad suggests she get a job to earn some money, but with clothing, supplies and business-school tuition, he's paying far more than she's earning. This four-page story by Parker is original to this comic, not a reprint from the strip. Mopsy adds new meaning to the phrase, "paint yourself into a corner." Mopsy tries to photograph a high-diver, but she needs to hold still. Mopsy returned to comic-book pages a year later in Mopsy (1948) #1. Mopsy; Virgil Stagg. 32 pages, Full Color. Cover price $0.10.
