Stories and art by Larry Doby and Charles Dexter. Fawcett followed up its Jackie Robinson comics with a one-shot based on the life of another pioneering Black baseball great, Larry Doby. Less well-known than Robinson, Doby breaks the color barrier in the American League when he joins the Cleveland Indians in July 1947. He and Satchel Paige make history again in 1948 as the first Black players on a World Series-winning team, and he becomes a seven-time All-Star center fielder. Includes a short message written by Doby himself. A Personal Message from Larry Doby; Larry Doby, Baseball Hero. 32 pages, Full Color. Cover price $0.10.
